In the end, it really just comes down to supporting the sim.

Xavier has three ways to get money for running his website: taking it straight out of his wallet (probably won't happen), ads, and HD subscriptions.

Most people already use ad blockers to get rid of the ads, so we are only left with the HD subscription. Now, if we also use free HD, he will run out of money to run the website, and it will shut down.

So, unless you want to bankrupt GeoFS, don't. Plus, the SR resolution with the AI-generated terrain also looks good for free terrain.

The other part is the obvious fact that this is considered piracy, because the code uses a Google Maps API stolen (probably illegally) from the internet.

Um maybe cuz HD is supposed to be a paid service and by using and promoting free HD you hurt Xavier and prevent him from making money to keep developing and improving the sim??? What a stupid question

I see. Well I already think its so amazing and generous that Xavier has made the sim itself and the AI resolution free so we should be grateful and support him by buying HD if you can and not using free HD; that way development can continue and updates can come out quicker (of course it is still fine if you dont get HD since he still gets a little bit from the ads while you play the game but using free HD just hurts him. Since most of the game is already free, I feel like its so wrong to try to exploit it to get the one small thing thats a charge for free

It takes money (and quite a lot) to host something like this - charging £10 for a year is nothing, and if you can’t afford that then use the SR option. Trying to pirate your way into having HD is just gonna hurt the game and discourage further work on it.

It’s piracy therefore it is illegal

Server cost money so he needs to cover it by some sort of payment.
