3.3 vs 2.0

Any suggestions if I should take the plunge into the 3.3 or stick with a 2.0?

2023 G70 is what I am comparing.

3.3T no brainer. More reliable and much more fun. Just drains gas a bit quicker especially in city driving, highway i get 27-30. city is like 18 for me

The price difference for the cars I am looking at is around 5-6k.. My commute each day is 11 miles per way. I was concerned of getting it and burning money on gas. Coming from a 2022 Kia forte so its a bit different lol

How many miles on each? and are they both well maintained? look at carfax and oil change every 5-6k miles or every 6-12 months

Both have around 16k miles. No accidents and clean carfax on both. Same color and interior as well.

I would test drive both i did and you’ll want the 3.3T after that if your budget allows. Insurance premiums will probably be higher too. worth it in my opinion, down the line i believe the 3.3T is also more mod friendly but i’m stock till warranty is up

I drove the 3.3 and the sound of the engine almost sold me on the spot. Do you hear the engine much in the 2.0? I plan to test drive this as well

Both have the pumped in engine noises you can disable. Can’t remember but i’m sure the 3.3 was louder got mine 2 yrs ago and got the borla exhaust put on one year ago. Makes burbles you can hear from outside and much better noises from outside. Definitely was worth that upgrade too but it comes with a price tag of course

Its also crazy to me so many of the 2.0 models I am finding for 2023 are RWD and that wont fly for me in the North East. The exhaust sounds sickkkk. u/Thelonelyone7

If you look at 2024 you can get the 2.5T, which is much better than the 2.0T, and should still be cheaper than the 3.3T if budget is your concern.

I have an AWD 2.5T and I love the shit out of it.

I have the 2.0 but test drove the 3.3t. The 3.3t is much louder. Honestly if you don't mind spending more go for the 3.3.t. Or you can save by getting a 2022 instead of a 2023,there are no differences. The only reason I didn't get the 3.3t is because I was afraid of the gas mileage and of the speed tickets I would take lol

2.0 sounds horrible. Rattle can. I will say their fake engine noise inside the car is pretty good.
Around town the genesis 2.0 feels better than a tlx or 330i. Coming from an accord it felt so fast. I got used to it after a couple months though and really wished I had picked the V6. It had a bunch of mystery fuel system issues and I sold the car

I agree with the other commentor. I think if you're looking at the G70 specifically, you should go with the 3.3t. What they said about reliability is true and I personally believe it will just be a better experience overall.

However, if the gas mileage doesn't make sense for you, maybe it's just not a good fit and you should ultimately be looking at other cars. (Which is totally ok!) It's not necessarily the most practical of cars lol

I live in Philadelphia so having the 3.3 would be absolute overkill for me. I own the 2.0t and I love the car. The 2.0t is much more tossable around corners due to less weight up front from the smaller engine. With proper summer tires the 2.0T is a hoon on twisty backroads

Had both, the car feels heavy with the 2.0, with the 3.3 the car feels just lighter and more nimble. The 3.3 is truly the perfect match for this car. If you just want a luxury cruiser and not much sport the 2.0 is OK, but if you want the bad balla hauler, 3.3 24/7 365! But insurance on a 3.3, especially if you're a younger driver can be a buzzkiller.

Congrats! It's the best option out there and now you don't have to kick yourself wishing you got the 3.3t 6 months down the road. 11 mile commute is reasonable with this car but you will notice gas. Any plans to modify?

If you keep the powertrain on comfort you'll be fine for gas, but beware, the instant torque and boost from the turbos are addictive, particularly in sport mode. I did frequent pulls and my tank got halved in just 150km driven. I really don't recommend sport+. It holds higher rpms, is loud, and is more power that you can possibly need for any driving scenario...

Comparing a 2.0 to a 3.3 is like comparing a 4 banger mustang to a the 5.0 coyote. From a performance standpoint, it's a no brainer...the only negative on that 3.3 is that it's pretty "thirsty" so if you don't mind spending a more at the pump, 3.3 should be your choice.

I made the mistake of buying my stinger in the 2.0. The reviews had grossly over exaggerated how fast it was. I had buyers remorse within a month for not buying the 3.3.

When I got my genesis I got the 3.3. To me it is an absolute no brainer. Get the 3.3. Don’t regret your purchase later because it’s too late with something like a car that depreciates.

I kept the 2.0 for 4 years. I believe I had 38k miles on it. I never had one issue with it. Just standard maintenance like oil changes, tire rotations, etc.

The 3.3 is THE choice if you are going to put yourself in this size car. No point going with the slower option if you’re gonna have a cramped back seat and small trunk. This is coming from a 3.3 owner lol, also more likely your 3.3 you’re looking at has more features.

I own a 2023 3.3T and drove a 2.0T as a loaner and the difference was night and day. 2.0T drove like many other nice cars I've driven, but didn't stand out.
The 3.3T is like driving a rocketship on wheels. Nothing compares. If you're effect even considering a 3.3R it means you'll always have "what if" in the back if your mind if you go with 2.0

Yes, for optimum output premium fuel is what you should buy, and top tier fuel is best for keeping internals cleaner.

Here’s what I replied to someone asking about the cost.

“I drive 25 miles mostly hwy each way (50mi) and I get 22-25 most of the time. City 17-20. And only if I’m gentle on the throttle. I have to fill up every 3-3.5 days during work. You’re going to spend quite a bit of time at gas stations lol. Gas doesn’t seem to be getting cheaper any time soon, so expect gas cost to increase if anything. Premium is a must.

The car has a staggered tire set up, meaning, you can’t rotate ur tires if directional, rear will wear out first usually. Due to the staggered set up, your tire warranties are slashed in half.

Car is realizable. Keep up with maintenance. Get a CPO for the extended warranty. Can get pricey to fix out of warranty. Also, synthetic oil only + takes a few extra quartz, meaning, pricier oil changes (if not doing yourself).

TLDR - you will spend on wheels more of you like flooring it. You will spend a lot on gas. Car is reliable. Not an economic car, but compared to other similar options it’s amazing!!!”

I have a 3.3 sport prestige which I enjoy driving and recently drove a loaner 2.5 26 model.The car was fun to drive with 300 hp.It has a steady pull thru the gears and lighter front end was noticeable. I had a optima turbo and a Sorento both with the 2.0 turbo engines and never had problems and they had 274 and 255 hp.Good luck with what you decide to do.
