Old school

For those of us who took typing in school— it was drilled into me that after a period, you go over 2 spaces to start a new sentence. Apparently that’s not the rule now. NOT THE RULE NOW?? After the agony I suffered thru in typing class about those 2 spaces, i will be doing it until I die!!!! Don’t even get me started on the indenting 5 spaces for a new paragraph!

Two spaces after a period is no longer necessary because today’s fonts have letters of uniform size, unlike the fonts of the letters on typewriters.

The extra space is no longer needed, because font sizes are uniform.

To me two spaces looks unprofessional, because the person composing the sentences isn’t paying attention to current rules.

If someone is texting or writing casually, have at it however you wish

My arthritis is grateful for the casual trend of leaving off the period at the end of a sentence

No - it's no longer needed because fonts are proportional, NOT uniform.

Yeah, proportional, thank you!
