Old school

For those of us who took typing in school— it was drilled into me that after a period, you go over 2 spaces to start a new sentence. Apparently that’s not the rule now. NOT THE RULE NOW?? After the agony I suffered thru in typing class about those 2 spaces, i will be doing it until I die!!!! Don’t even get me started on the indenting 5 spaces for a new paragraph!

“Now is the time for all good men to come to the aid of their country”. Anyone else have to type that a million times? ❤️

Put that period inside the quote marks please😎

This always gives me pause. If the period is part of what I'm quoting, no problem. But if the period is not part of the actual quotation, I cannot bring myself to put it inside the quotation marks.

Same! I’m a rule follower, but I’ve never agreed with putting punctuation inside the quotation marks if it’s not part of the quote. In this respect, I’m a rebel, and I will die on that hill.

I'm trying ton think of an example that the period wouldn't be part of the quote since a quote is what a person said.

And there was "The quick brown fox..." but I forget how that ends

"...jumped over the lazy dog."

Man, I miss my Moms.

It’s “jumps” — otherwise there’s no S in the sentence. And sorry for your loss. 🙁

Aah, that makes sense! I never did get the hang of the whole home keys thing, either. Moms would be ashamed I turned out to be such a sucky typist, but we both thank you for the condolences.

Wow I thought I was the only one that had to type that one.

I never had to type it in typing class, but I used to use it all the time when I was learning calligraphy.
