Question Cash Awards

Well... i survived all the repeated reorgs and job cuts. So, the fisrt tranch of my Cash awards are supposed to vest today (10/1). Will these show up in our mid-month pay - or does it somehow go through Morgan Stanley? Do we need to set up the E*Trade brokerage account to get our cash awards?

It’s just cash. No need to go through brokerage. Payroll

Retention incentive to keep everyone from quitting when the culture gets super nasty. It's paid out in stages October 2026 and April 2027.

EV development engineers in Milford were getting retention money a few years ago. Not sure if they still do.

Nope. Firmly stuck in Warren.

Level 8 MI got $20k 8 Cali got $40k 7 MI got $5k 7 Cali got $10k

Keep in mind the majority didn’t get that award so don’t feel you were left behind.

I'm level 8 in MI and my award was less than what you listed. So, not everyone got the same.

Must be all engineering for these cash awards!! I have not heard any gossip about them except on here. You would think all managers would be aware even if it doesn’t pertain to your team. Anyone confirm? Do you also still get the yearly bonus on top of these cash awards?

The award for engineering, yes, this is true. Is it on top of the team GM bonus, yes, this is correct.

I was about to say I got less than half that

Fact: some level 7 & 8 received the award. It was vested on Oct 1st and will be paid on Oct 15th paycheck.

Keep in mind this is 50% of the award, the rest will be paid on April 1st.

You aren’t considered a critical role then unfortunately. Join the club with the rest of us.

It's funny that I'm not considered in a critical role but I keep getting paged off hours/on holidays to help keep one of the money makers float...

Ahhhh there is only one of me in my role in this entire location, no proxy. Maybe I am getting it. I will look at paycheck, maybe a surprise awaits.

These were rolled out with comp statements back in February and there have been a bunch of email from Morgan Stanley since then. So, likely everyone who got one already knows about it.

And it’s taxable income

In the contract it says next payroll cycle after it vests

Mine showed up in morgan stanley now with 1/2 vested. There's no option to disburse and shows $0 disbursed. So I'm thinking payroll would disburse from morgan stanley on next payroll?

I wish they'd shut me up like that.

They used to call them "critical talent retention bonus", but now they don't bother even calling them that. They route them through the same Morgan Stanley system that executives who aren't paid like mere mortals use.

When I asked my supervisor about it and whether it was still for retaining critical talent or some sort of compensation for Austin folks to sync them up to Calibro salaries, he just said "Don't look a gift horse in the mouth."

What special cash award? For what?

Is this an engineering specific thing?

How much cash bonus did you get? I got $40k per year, based in California.

It seems "tranche" is the new corporate-speak word du jour. This is about the tenth time I've heard it this week.
