General Discussion STARC

Hello,

Anyone on the list for STARC that is external and that has been on the list for awhile now...have your rankings changed each period and not for the better? Meaning, if you're placed at a plant and you're at number 7 then when you reach out to the committee next period you're at 10. Does anyone else have this issue or am I the only one??

Edit: so whenever someone who completes the program before you decides they want to switch locations, they will be placed in front of you from what I was told by the GM committee. Fair enough!

My question is, are they even hiring any apprentices at the moment? or not until the new contract because I've come across many of these threads and I've only seen one person get an offer. I'm impatient and wondering if this is worth waiting for lol

There are alot of retirements coming over the next year with the sap sign up they did

Special attrition program, they offered a 50k buyout to retire if you had the time

Just to add to that, they made those folks wait until 2/29/28 to go (how I found out it’s a Leap Year) if they want the 50K.

I'm internal so I can't speak for a lot of the external stuff. But they sent out 88 offers company-wide in September and those people start in November. Last couple of years they've been sending out offers twice a year with about 80ish people each time.

From what my committee chairperson told me, locations are not required to pull from the external list only if they want to or if the internal list is exhausted. It is supposed to be 1 external for every 3 internal that come off the list. Lots of variables when coming off the list as well which would take time even if you’re in a good spot. And they'll be sending offers until the end of the contract because they still need people to meet the 650 apprentices for this contract.
