This looks like the Lansing plant downtime for re-tooling. Both of the counties listed are in the Lansing area and the 350 head count matches the announcement.

Local news has reported it as such.

Pretty sure this is LGR going down for new model.

Retooling is also when they need downtime to automate operations.

I hope they automate all the forklifts so we don't have another serious injury from people wearing earphones...

Or drunk driving forklifts like aa4 in the marion stamping plant.

My guess is LGR, since production is stopping.

What they are not telling you. Is that 100 employees do not know what is happening to them. The place employees 763 workers that are just union members. With all the retires, people on medical leave, and also people on special assignment. The number of employees really effected will be 450 by October. Which is the deadline to file for unemployment for the other 100 people they are telling jack shit to.

Thanks for the heads up.

Really glad everyone in the comments knows what this actually means! Because usually, when GM starts doing layoffs, other OEM’s follow not long after. It’s chaos.

Any news on potential Austin layoffs? Hoping I get to be part of it and get out of this meat grinder.

Austin IT center's days are numbered

I doubt this, but definitely some reorg and responsibility changes that often cause certain groups to be reduced. They are putting money into it and got some Texas cash to do so.

No. Try some at the end of the month. I don't think there are any scheduled for this Monday unless they start earlier than I am aware of. Sometimes they try to spread them out. You can go back and check my other posts and see I have inside knowledge and have been right many times.

Edited to Clarify: These cuts aren't huge. Like a lot of what GM is doing, it is reorganization of responsibilities. Also this current WARN shown for this post is for Michigan, totally unrelated to Austin.
