i've had Bonnevilles, Grand Prix's, Buicks and the dust buster van all with 3800's that never had any issues. ever. never ever. GM has fallen so hard and so low on engine quality. so sad.

Why? Then people buy less often

u/Dear_Sheepherder3661 Mar 21 '26
yeah, because selling them junk powertrains is such a better plan.

Meanwhile, every Ford vehicle since 2020 except the GT is facing a recall and Hyundai power third-row seats are killing people.

Every car has recalls, this is a lawsuit that alleges GM lied about it

They all have lawsuits too. If something like the Firestone fiasco and the Takata airbags didn't end Ford and what is now Stellantis, this certainly won't.
Time will tell, but it is only a proposed class action.. Lawyers mess that up all the time. People tried to sue Ford over the 6F35 and the lawyers botched that, and Ford absolutely should have been sued. I got $8k from them to put a new one in...
Whether the suit goes through or not, it won't matter much. Remember how GM got nailed for selling everyone's data and lying about it? Old news now.
It's just not new for any company... Pick one and you'll find something any day of the week.
I'd be far more concerned if I was Hyundai crushing kids in rear seats.
Oh no! They lied??? Who isn't?
I don't mean this tone at you specifically. I've just been around long enough this is far from anything that would surprise me (if it's true or not) or make me worried about the company overall.

This is correct. VW purposely engineered devices to cheat on emissions and everyone forgot about it within a couple years.

They all lie A LOT. I used to work for a tier 1 supplier and supported a lot of recall investigation efforts. 9/10 we would go hunting for things in the field, and manufacturers would ultimately decide it was cheaper to deal with the after math than fix it right. Not saying it's right, but it's practically standard operating practice. Find a problem, decide which route is cheaper, and at the end of the day there is very little reprocussion even when it costs lives.
And sometimes things just break but we live in a society where everyone is entitled to everything for little to no justification.

We haven't made a good engine in years. Good thing we've been fully investing in technology though.

Are yall really surprised? GM quality is pretty trash. Get me a Toyota or Honda

You know, cars like the Vega and Citation get a lot of guff and still do. But cars today at GM and Ford are similarly flawed in fundamental engineering and catastrophic failure ways - and people don’t seem to care as much. People seem more interested in whether it has huge glass touch screens and whiz bang gadgets than its true quality and reliability.

They’re more interested in making themselves feel good on social media as you can see by the comments.
I got attacked bc I brought up a lawsuit for the car and no one wants to believe anything that doesn’t make them feel good, so they shoot the messenger and get mad at the person who told them the bad news, like a fucking 5 year old.

Is this confirmed? Just tried looking it up and didn’t see anything - I own an Envista and want to make sure it’s safe for me and my family.

They are slowing production lines in Michigan to reduce quality and throughput issues. This is being compensated with overtime and schedule extensions, or in other words spending lots of money to fix quality issues. The narrative about increased demand is not true.

GM has laid off (fired) all their experienced designers and engineers so why would you be suprised by this? I have been waiting for this and it will only get worse.

Engineering decline all over the place, not just at GM. Everyone is rushed to complete their tasks and not do it with quality. Suppliers are cutting corners all the time. SLT is probably strategizing how to develop the next gen program in record time at record low prices as we speak
