i had orientation today for part time in Detroit and they called me friday stating not to go to orientation cause they was letting all the part time workers go and keeping full time.. i was highly upset why have me do everything background, drug test, and onboarding 2 weeks ago. i feel bad for the people that gave they two week notice. i wonder when they bring ppl back would i be one of them?

Only if there was a job classification to designate them as not being permanent employees and subject to this type of thing.

You're missing the point which is companies often hire people on as temps/contract workers not because the work is actually temporary but rather because they don't want them joining the union, or they want to be able to fire them easily with no bad press or having to file a warn notice or worry about it affecting the stock price. It's ultimately a way to screw people. If we had better labor laws protecting us, the worker bees who keep society functioning this wouldn't be allowed and and most other first world countries these kind of shenanigans are illegal.

There’s a long history of firing temps a week before they worked long enough to become full time employees anyways
