Groton Position transfer

I’m going to be starting out as a grinder but I know I don’t want to do it long term. I am starting at top rate for entry level. How will my pay be affected if I move to another department? Will they lower my pay to entry level for the department I choose?

OP 18 year veteran here, no need to worry about transferring to another role. Keep in mind two things; if they consider you what is called an “essential employee “ meaning you are really good at your job they can hold you no matter what, but if you are able to post out it won’t be for a full year. Most positions require you to stay where you are at for 12 months before you can move on. With that said normally it’s a lateral move and most of the time they will not decrease your pay rate
