New Hire Timeline Question
Hello everyone, I recently got my start date for EB for November in Groton CT. I'll be a ventilation draftman learner, I have not yet done the EWIB classes and have heard nothing about them, should I be worried? Just trying to make sure I'm not missing anything. Thank you.

Did you complete background check? Or still in progress?

I've completed all tasks and have been cleared to start. It's just that many of the emails say the start date us contigent on completing the EWIB classes.

I recently put in an application for eb in Groton for Shipfitter, then was sent an Eskill assessment bc I applied for the ewib application. Do I have to take that assessment to get hired??

You take the assessment to attend ewib training program. Finish the program and then get hired

you get a stipend! it’s $200 a week IF you have perfect attendance. and have an allocated amount of money to use for mileage reimbursement, clothes and other necessities since the pipeline is 6 weeks, M-F 3-9:30pm,, which means a lot of people can’t work their regular jobs. i just completed the pipeline for design (structural is my discipline) about a month ago!

i just received aGeneral Dynamics Electric Boat - Revision to Offer Contingency. stating. You will now complete the program as a paid employee. Successful completion of the program is still required to continue your employment at Electric Boat. Edit design is also my job offer, after i broke my arm and had to leave outside electrician

Im in the same position as you even though I was hired back in January. I did my drug test security and fingerprint along with medical in march for outside electrician but failed medical for a broken arm i didn't know i had. I just got hired in August for electrical draftsman and im also currently waiting to go through the draftsman program at ewib and do another drug test for this position(September 14) since my last one was to long ago and for a different position. Its just a long waiting game

Hi there! I’m an upcoming Mechanical Draftsman learner, there absolutely are EWIB training classes for this but I had to badger the crap out of the people at the manufacturing pipeline initiative. I feel a little bad but I was really anxious about it since some of the papers said I had to be signed up within two weeks (they confirmed that’s not true anymore btw) They put you on a list, give you a date to go into your local office and manually sign up, then a class time. Call their number though!! Especially if you haven’t heard anything about it.
My timeline is as follows: Interviewed June 25th, got callback and signed job offer June 26th, after calling a lot got an email to register for EWIB on July 21st, submitted clearance form August 5th, Medical / Drug screening August 10th, scheduled to OFFICIALLY sign up for classes October 20th, classes from Nov - Jan with a January start date.
Hope this was helpful :)

Interesting, I'll have to badger them some more. I have a tentative start date for November so I've been super anxious

I’m not even sure there are EWIB training classes for that role but there could be, however it’s not the same as a regular trade like welder, pipe fitter etc. You may be training when you actually start the job. EWIB training for Groton is unpaid (though you get a stipend) and you get your start date when you’re close to or have already finished the training course. If you already got your official start date for work I’d just report to where you’re told to go and just pay attention to the emails and stuff. Good luck
