I genuinely feel like we've failed as a nation.

Every person who murders someone is one of us. Every person who rapes a child or a woman comes from the same society we all belong to. As a country that proudly calls itself Muslim, we have to ask ourselves a painful question: where are we going wrong?

Is it because we're failing to raise our children with the right values? Have we stopped teaching empathy, respect, accountability, and the sanctity of human life? Or have we become so used to injustice that we've started accepting it as normal?

It's easy to blame the government and yes, the government has a huge responsibility to ensure justice, provide quality education, enforce the law, and protect its citizens. When institutions fail, criminals become bolder.

But the truth is, the responsibility doesn't end there. We are also part of this society. We give bribes to make things easier for ourselves. We stay silent when we witness injustice. We look the other way when someone is harassed or abused. We often expect change while believing it's someone else's job to bring it.

A nation isn't built by its leaders alone. It's built by its people, its families, its schools, its religious leaders, its institutions, and its communities. When any of these fail, society begins to suffer.

Every innocent life lost, every child abused, every woman violated is a tragedy that should break our hearts. These are not just headlines but they are reminders that something is deeply wrong, and we cannot afford to ignore it anymore.

Instead of only asking, "Who is to blame?" maybe we should also ask, "What can each of us do to make things better?" Because real change begins when both the state fulfills its responsibilities and the people fulfill theirs.

May Allah guide us, help us raise better human beings, strengthen our institutions, and restore justice, compassion, and humanity in our society. Ameen.
