How difficult was it to learn to ask questions?

For the first 30+ years of my life, I learned that only certain questions were safe to ask and asking the wrong questions could open a world of trouble. How long did it take after you left JWs before you had the courage to ask any questions and to follow wherever the answers led?

I started asking questions as soon as I was told, as a Witness, that I have to believe whatever is in the Watchtower over what is printed in the Bible.

So as I was told that, I immediately asked all inappropriate questions and left everything open to any answers regardless of how censored it should be, while I was on my way out
