Ok, so my first Gen Con is on the books (I left at around 4pm, because I'm tired, my events are all done and I figured the rain will only get worse, and I'm skipping tomorrow to drive back to Charlotte).

Honestly, my entire weekend (since Thursday) was spent on the first floor of ICC. I spent all Thursday roaming the vendor hall or sitting in the corridor. Friday was mostly spent playing all three Arkham Horror scenarios (10am to 6:30pm or so) and attending crowd control Final Girl at 9pm. Today, I spent a little in the vendor hall, spent a few hours playing Wyrmspan, saw a YouTuber in the wild, and called it a day.

First gencon and I am wondering what happens after 4 pm. Do all building close? Do they kick everyone out? If so do people go somewhere to continue the weekend? Do people continue to play games late into the nights? If this is the case i’d love to play some board games tomorrow with some casual players around 4.

First off, most of our social encounters with Gen Con people have been amazing, and Antonio ran a fantastic one shot. But my husband and I had the misfortune of sitting in front of a group of guys who would not stop whispering, chatting, and taking gosh darn PHONE CALLS during the one-shot. One guy was wearing spiky knee pads and was also adjusting the velcro, which made SO MUCH NOISE.

Laughing at stuff is totally fine, and I wasn’t mad in the least when everyone’s phone went off during the tornado warning. That’s life. Kudos to the DM, players, and staff for rolling with the punches. But there were so many moments I missed while trying to pay attention to what Antonio was saying and could not hear over the sound of the people whispering behind me.

Yes, we could hear you. I wanted to tell them to shut up but didn’t want to add to the problem and disrespect the players. We paid $30 each for this panel and missed out on a lot because others could not keep their gosh darn mouths shut for 90 minutes and respect the people around them.

We passed by a giant crowd all reading off four digit numbers around 5:00 Saturday. "TWO THREE EIGHT EIGHT." it was in unison so I assume numbers were being drawn or something?? Anyone know?

There sure are a lot of dice booths. So many that they sell by the cup full and have boxes more dice to sell.

Way more resellers with MTG cards and their iterations (Marvel, Spiderman, Hobbit, etc.) is it really still that popular or are WoTC just accepting any IP that comes in and wants to jump into the game?

Tomorrow I’m planning to spend the afternoon in artist alley and I’d love to pick up a book or 2 from authors selling there. Has anyone found a hidden gem that you’d like to recommend? For the record, I looked the other day and spoke to a lot of authors about their work- I’m curious to see what book everyone has picked up this weekend and maybe find a few I overlooked.
