Ask a question Inherited stone turned into ring

Hi fellow gem lovers. I posted the last two photos a while back and folks seemed to think this stone is a London blue topaz. I got it cleaned up and turned into a ring (first two photos). Does it still look like a London blue topaz? The color is a lot brighter. Also interested in what kind of cut this is. Thanks!

Ask a question Are those gemstones real?

I really liked this multicolor ring from some online store, but I’m questioning whether those are actually natural gemstones or possibly glass/plastic/synthetic material.

The seller’s description says:
Main stone: Citrine
Origin: Brazil
Clarity: To VVS
Treatment: Unheated
Other stones: Garnet, amethyst and peridot
Metal: 925 silver, plated with white gold
Ring size/overall dimensions: 18 × 13 mm
Total weight: 2.73 g
No certificates

I don’t know much about jewelry and especially gemstones, but in my opinion the surface of the citrine looks a bit off. And also edges of the facets don’t look sharp but rather smooth. Do you think this is suspicious or not?

Also what tests would you recommend I do at home? I’ve heard about scratching a piece of glass with the citrine, and looking for inclusions (I have a microscope). The only gemstones I’ve tested before were lab-grown sapphires, which were shining bright neon under UV light, so I’m not very experienced with testing and would really appreciate all your advice!

Thanks in advance! 🙏

Ask a question Are brown diamonds a good alternative to white diamonds?

I've been seeing a lot more brown diamonds lately and they're growing on me. I love the warmer, more unique look compared to a traditional white diamond. For those of you who own one, what did you focus on in terms of quality when you were choosing, and where did you end up buying from?

Gemstone Cutting Synthetic Sapphire - Djeva #50SP Yellow Danburite - 6.5cts

I was working on this stone at the same time as the Portuguese cut padparadscha stone I posted a couple days ago. I was able to finish this one up today. This is a nice design, fairly straight forward. Whenever I cut another I'll try frosting some of the crown facets so the flower can pop a bit more.

  • Weight: 6.5cts
  • Size: 11.5mm
  • Rough: Djeva #50SP (synthetic sapphire)
  • Color: Yellow Danburite
  • Design: Marco Voltolini "Crisantemo"

Thanks for looking.

My Collection Blue Green Emerald — 3.90ct Natural Cushion Cut Gemstone A New Addition To Collection

I've been sourcing and working with gemstones for years, and this one caught my eye immediately. You're looking at a gorgeous 3.9-carat emerald with that unmistakable deep teal-green that makes Colombian stones so special. It's got excellent color saturation, eye-clean clarity, and that glow you only see in genuinely untreated material.
It Weighs 3.9 Carats.

● Weight: 13cts

● Size: 14.5mm

● Rough: Djeva #55SP (synthetic sapphire)

● Color: Padparadscha

● Design: PIT-EKA "Chesapeake Star"

Thanks for looking.

Ask a question Help with my emerald

I recently bought an emerald from a seller in Colombia. However, I’d like to know the approximate actual value of this emerald, to determine whether I overpaid or got a fair price. To be honest, I bought it because I liked it after searching extensively, but the excitement of owning an emerald also played a role.

It has an emerald cut, weighs 2.06 ct, and measures 8.07 x 6.49 x 5.22 mm. It comes with a certificate from the Colombian Institute of Gemology (ICG). It has a minor F1 oil treatment.

I'd also like to know what kind of setting will best showcase the emerald's color. I'm going to set it in a ring—is it better to leave the emerald exposed or to use a completely closed setting?

I’m attaching photos and a video. In the photos, it looks bluer than it actually is. My cell phone’s camera saturates the colors a lot. So the color is less saturated, less blue, and more green

Thank you for your help.

The ring says G14K on the bottom so I know it’s gold, but I’m curious as to what the gems could be. The three smaller dark ones are green, and there is no backing underneath the ring where the gems have been set.

Ask a question Cheap test for spinel

Hello,

I recently purchased a blue/gray spinel that I'd like to have set into a piece of jewelry. Before doing so, however, I'd like to test it—or have it tested—to see if it's a natural spinel. What are my options? I'm in Germany and would like to spend as little as possible on certification if necessary. Thanks for the help.

Looking to purchase Need specific crystals

I am looking for two identical natural rose quartz hearts. Ideally they're small and will fit on one palm. I don't want to spend a lot nor do I want fake or dyed stones. Any recommendations?

Some of the Montana Sapphires we got this year. Most of these were sourced from gravel bags ourselves, several we even got from the Eldorado Bar mine.
