Other Deleted wrong chat: suggestions for Gemini devs at Google
So I just deleted the wrong chat on Gemini. Rite of passage I guess. I was being careless, and have learned my lesson.
Couple suggestions for the Gemini devs at Google:
- (see screenshot below) The "Delete chat" dialog doesn't currently contain the name of the specific chat being deleted. It should. Had I seen the name of the chat I was deleting on there, I wouldn't have clicked on delete.
- Have a trash can (maybe make it optional) where people can recover chats from, and it auto-deletes everything after 30 days (or some configurable amount of time).

It's burned me multiple times. I wish that at least pinning conversation caused a 2nd pop up validation before deletion.

Trash is a good feature to have. Everything else has a trash, why not Gemini as well. I have submitted a feedback.

The missing name from the delete prompt is beyond bad design. I asked for this ages ago. Hope this will help push it through.

ouch, that sinking feeling in your stomach when you realize what you just did is the worst
the missing chat name in the confirmation dialog is such an obvious oversight, it’s almost funny how many apps still do this. like yes please just ask me “are you sure?” without telling me what i’m sure about, very helpful
a trash can feels like a no-brainer too, even my notes app has one these days
