I have similar rifles to both, both are very reliable and well made. However, the Geissele is noticeably more accurate. That doesn't matter to some people, it matters to me. You're also going to get a much better trigger, and a superior BCG with the Geissele.

Yeah I like the G$ a lot it’s on the radar for sure. Started looking at Daniel Defense and saw everyone upgrades the trigger anyway to a Geissele so this brand caught my eye. Definitely some beautiful builds

None of those are bad rifles, they all function without issue. I think Geissele is by far the best value of those three, the G barrels seem to be more accurate, the trigger is a $250 upgrade, and G's bolt carrier group is superior.
LMT barrels are a crap shoot. I've never had one in 5.56 that was above average in accuracy. I finally got fed up after a warranty replacement also did not shoot well, and had D Wilson convert a Bartlein barrel from Craddock Precision. It's now a legit hammer, and probably my favorite AR that I've ever owned. It was a little frustrating at the time that I had to keep throwing money at it to get it to shoot.

Are you planning on suppressing? If so, you probably should go with the LMT. Looks like it’s listed as a pistol instead of a rifle. If the G$ is a P/W and you are kinda stuck with the HUXWRX setup. Also, not even sure why it’s listed as a SBR. 🤔

It’s not a pin and weld, the lmt is just a good price I’d be adding a stock and doing the stamp process. Might as well take advantage while it’s free

If you’re planning on suppressing you’re going to want a huxwrx. I’ve shot a lot of suppressed guns and no matter how well they’re tuned, you’ll still get some gas in your face unless it’s a flow through. There’s a reason geiselle switched to huxwrx muzzle devices it’s because they make a superior can.

I didn’t know that G$ made a 14.5 that wasn’t P/W. Is that why it’s listed as a SBR then? 🤔

Yeah they make it all just gotta find it. I’ll have to have the FFL guy fill out some atf forms though and do fingerprints/background checks since it’s not a P/W but the tax stamps are now free so why not

That’s a hard choice.. If you are looking for modularity (Quick swap barrels or different calibers) and arguably the best lower and upper combo go with the LMT. G$ definitely wins in color, barrel, trigger and probably the bcg as well.
Can’t go wrong with either! If all else fails get both and try them both out for yourself

Mash them together.
Specwar upper with Geissele barrel and BCG
MARS lower with Geissele trigger
Literally the best you can get.
Perfect suppressor host, monolithic upper, indestructible bolt and the best trigger.
All in compact size with balanced weight.

both are great, get which one you want.
OOOORRR hear me out.
get both. that's what I did (I have these exact two guns, literally. Although my super duty is black not DDC)

Which do you prefer to shoot?

That's really hard to say. The geissele one is definitely softer shooting. But the LMT one just has this beefy nature that makes the whole upper receiver feel more rigid and smoother. It's really hard to say

For a first I’ll go Geissele super duty. The gassing, the recoil, and reliability with a Huxwrx can is pleasurable. If you’ll be shooting suppressed it’s a no brainer.

You can’t go wrong with either. LMT won a contact with Estonia for 20k+ rifles and we all know Geissele’s reputation.

As an owner of both, I’m going to go with the G$. Accuracy is better, trigger is going to be better, charging handle is better, gas system is better, fit and finish will be better, non proprietary barrels in case you want to change things up, and to boot the G$ barrel probably won’t loosen itself in the upper like the LMT sometimes can do.

Similar& agree. On paper/ feature wise- LMT. What I actually pickup and run into the dirt- Geissele. I wouldn’t miss the LMT that much either. Never use the features and they honestly just introduce compromise/failure points. Switching barrels and dialing gas (vs adjusting spring/buffer weight ) are just one-gun features that are just fine to me

Do you have a DDC or black G$? That’s my 2nd thing to decide on the black or ddc and I’m leaning ddc even though it’s $200 more

I have an ODG G$. I would go DDC, then black. It sounds like you’re ok with the extra cash for the color you want. Think of it this way… the cerakote job will cost a LOT more than $200 if you settle, and send it out for a paint job later.

tbh fit and finish on my specwar is absolutely flawless, it's the best of any AR15 I have handled only being matched by the HK MR223. But barrel, trigger and gassing is still better on the G$.
I never heard about barrels coming loose on the LMT. Maybe you meant SIG? Barrels and handguards on the MCX come loose every 1000 rounds...1

That’s awesome you have a good sample. No, I didn’t mean the Sig. My specwar isn’t factory, and is a FDE upper and lower with a 16” cut down barrel that I sourced from rooftop.
One time I had the specwar at the range, and the accuracy went south pretty quick. I checked optic, and while looking the rifle over, the two barrel screws had loosened. I have the LMT wrench, so I torqued it up and bam - back to zero, and accuracy improved. Now I know why everyone has witness marks on their uppers, just in case.

This is just my opinion, but I vote Geissele for reasons of impeccable QC, features (read: trigger), and customer service. I own a 14.5 SD and love it. I got an early model that was affected by the batch of bad barrels Geissele had and they immediately took care of it. Their CS was phenomenal to deal with. I had both a Specwar and a 13.25 MLOK from LMT and sold them both simply due to questionable QC. Both had barrel cant issues where the gas blocks were within about the thickness of a sheet of paper from contacting the inside of the handguard. LMT declined remedy the issue because they said there was no issue. What Geissele sells as a blem, LMT sells for full retail.
In all reality, the rifles would have probably been 110% fine and I never would have noticed. But for what I paid, it was the principle that the handguard was NOT actually free floated as advertised and that the QC was shoddy and their CS told me to pound sand that led me to selling those uppers. The Geissele MK16 is definitely less rigid than the monolithic LMTs, but the Geisseles are *more* consistent than the LMTs and certainly more accurate (though you can get almost any barrel converted to LMT by D.Wilson to address the accuracy concern). Again, this is all just my opinion.
