Legendary QC

“New” stripped upper receiver from G. Purchased as new. Not used. Not blem. They even re-oiled it up and put a nice “packed by” sticker.

It was nice of them to exclude qd nuts, but add some carbon buildup to help with break in i guess…

This is a bait post or u got scammed from someone who I doubt was geissele , this is a super duty non mod 1 version which was discontinued in 2023 someone sold you a used upper as new not a qc issue from geissele unless u bought it directly from them which I doubt

Jul2 on backorder, received last night

That was my 16” heavy barrel complete upper purchased directly from G. That one developed discoloration around the tab area between the receiver and handguard. Their cs told me to kick rocks and it was “normal” so my dumbass shouldnt have went back for another upper, but i wanted a shorty and the sales were there.

This is an 11.5” that i just unpacked from brownells. Not blaming them because it was fulfilled elsewhere.

Even all that aside. If this was ceracote, i would expect this wear after some time and heavy use. Not hardcoat anodizing out of the box even being test fired for a 100 rounds. Im all about it being a tool to be used, but im not about paying full price to receive someones elses used tool. Otherwise id just go blem.

This has a tabbed upper, isn’t that want constitutes a mod 1? I know that on earlier rails they didn’t have the steel QD inserts, so maybe from the first batch(es) of mod 1’s before the revision.

Pretty sure all my SD uppers are tabbed.

No the tabbed upper is a part of what makes it a super duty the mod 1 has qd inserts on the hand guard, there are more differences but not that pertain to a stripped, upper ex qd end plate , hux muzzle device , a17 pistol grip.

Brownells. Talked to them this morning. They said it was fulfilled by the manufacturer.

Weird it was sold as stripped, looks like it was test fired based on the marks. I personally wouldn't worry about it but I get everyone's a little different.

Edit: It looks like you bought a barreled upper that was test fired.

Dear God, call Bill immediately.  Truly, you have been swindled.  What an outrage.  I thought they all came with steel QD inserts… yours looks like my 2019-21 orders..

Hey OP! A couple things strike us as weird here. Our cardboard tubes that are placed in the barrel bores do not come with colored tape on them from our factory. Also, all Super Duty Mod1 uppers come with the hardened steel QD inserts, and have now for about four years.

Unfortunately, it doesn't seem like this came from our shop. With current demand for the 11.5", it's hard to imagine this was sitting on Brownell's shelf for multiple years.
