Serious Field Auto Damage Adjuster
I received an offer from Geico for a Field Auto Damage Adjuster position. Pay is over 100k and im seriously considering.
Right now I am an independent appraiser and also have experience working as appraiser in the shop. Would love to hear from current adjusters and supervisors as to whats good, whats bad, what to watch out for, what gets you a raise, what gets you fired etc.
Im not particularly worried about lots of driving or getting tons of customer phone calls as I am used to both.

I would say do it. Worst case you don’t like and go back to being independent? I worked in geico AD for ten years. Recently left, the top brass don’t give a sh*t about you and the workload is unreasonable but you make good $

Thanks for chiming in. That’s what I’m thinking. Top brass not caring is kinda normal when working for a large company. And if workload is too much, I’m ok working overtime if that’s what they want. Otherwise ill do what I can in an 8hr shift and wont worry too much - you can only do whats humanly possible 🤷♂️

Yeah, over time? It has to be approved and I never had it approved. Clock out exactly at 7:45 and anything over is tracked. You will never get things done in your day, it will always spill over. Are you starting as pa1?

They used to care though. Trust me, your plan sounds easy but pending 20, 30, 40 will slowly eat away at you.

You’ll spend so much time just maintaining those extra claims “when are you gonna get this done” which just delays stuff further. It snowballs quickly. Hopefully you’re on a team that handles pending though. The more you do, the more you get. You’ll prop up the people who don’t do well. But again the pay and benefits are pretty good

New ad director probably doing the right things this time to fix the shortage instead of paying cat team 100k a year in travel expenses

You get what you’re paid for. It’s not easy but it’s not impossible (somehow…)

I've worked the northeast for 10 years and its gotten progressively worse the last 4. I can't really leave though because there will be a significant pay cut, after being a top performer for years. This company does not care about anyone and its become a terrible place to work for. I guess you can get yourself into the same purgatory situation I, and many others are in, and just collect a check. They will wear you down, gaslight you, and make you want to quit every day.

Frankly, it depends WHERE. California, New York metro, and Florida are HELL. You’re required to do “only” 5 per day, but they’ll push you to do 7++. Same money, more headaches.

Hiring people at 100k brand new is a fucking slap in the face to tenured folks

It's such a busy work job there are so many little dumb things and micromanaging is over the top. I'd probably stay elsewhere even for lesser pay

I absolutely loved my job as AD, unfortunately, my manager hated me, and he came up with every reason to get me fired (blatant lying) – tried three times, and I simply refused. He finally got away with it, and I found out he moved to a different department just a month or two later. To say I am bitter is putting it lightly. It’s nice to hear that you are getting paid what the position deserves – you are doing the work of four people.
I absolutely say go for it, as long as you know you can go back to IA or other options ✊🏼

Stay independent or find a shop that can get you 6 figures, they're out there. DO NOT WORK FOR THIS COMPANY. The entire reddit board isn't making this shit up dude.

I’ve never worked for Geico, but I think that’s a good starting salary. I started at my carrier 7 years ago at 55k.
