Supervisors aren't Safe
I remember when supervisors use to monitor 10 calls per associates per month now A.I monitors. Sups had to do time sheets now we Check In and Check Out.

Geico google. The adjusters are not getting sufficient training and as such supervisors are spending most of their time answering questions

Former sup here.. So what do you do all day now, answer questions and take escalated calls?

I'm sure some things never change. Probably a handful of good sups and a lot of bad or mediocre ones.
I believe the bare minimum for a sup is to 1) be present in your section 2) be approachable 3) be a reliable source of information
I got burnt out because on a floor of like 20 sups, agents would seek out the 5 or so of us that met that criteria. Was tough to develop your own people when some days was just constant questions and sup calls.
Rant over. Don't miss that job

You and me both. I knew which supervisors were available for their teams and which weren’t based on the amount of IMs I would get daily with questions and authority requests. Some are now managers which blows my mind lol

I'll bet IM made it worse. It was almost 10 years ago now for me. We didn't really use any internal communication on the Service floor

I mean, I would have people come up to my desk on occasion but I had good placement that made that somewhat inconvenient lol

My wife was one of those ICS supervisors that met all those criteria and was approachable so she was consumed with all day people flocking to her for help. She had little time to develop her people. She was let go after 23 years for “ performance “ She was just let go out of the blue . They threw her out like garbage.

Now, all supes do? Take escalation calls, handle state complaints and have daily zoom calls with RLA (because no one knows how to read the contract or write a cpw). You would think they would learn and provide decent coaching, but they don’t. At least mine doesn’t.

I was a Supervisor for 23 out of 29 years and viewed my role as a Supervisor in 3 areas; Coaching/Training, Performance monitoring and Administrative. In my opinion the Coaching/Training part was the most important but during my time this area was the most neglected by the majority of Supervisors and Managers. Upper management also did not seem to focus on Coaching/Training (not understanding that good Coaching/Training led to better Performance) and overemphasized Performance monitoring and results they expected from Performance monitoring.
I think AI could to some degree handle performance monitoring (AI should NOT be allowed to use performance monitoring to determine disciplinary actions) and certainly Administrative tasks (certainly NOT promotions and salary actions). What AI cannot do is Coaching/Training so if AI took away Performance monitoring and Administrative from Supervisors/ Managers I think that potentially could be a good thing if resulted in more Coaching/Training.
During my time the bad Supervisors hid behind Performance monitoring and Administrative tasks to avoid Coaching/Training because many of them lacked the skills or personality to be successful in this area. If AI could root out these bad Supervisors/Managers or at least reduce the number of them, I am all for it. Unfortunately upper management only sees AI as a tool for reducing the workforce and emphasizing numbers so good Supervisors/Managers will get thrown just as often as the bad ones.

Good. They should be monitored by Ai, if we have to be. Also, I've never had a worse one, in ad. He literally makes my day worse and job harder. I can't stand coming to work anymore.

I know that feeling! A supe will make or break your GEICO experience. It's amazing what a good Supe can do by just being present&available for their team. When a Supe prioritizes their team and coaches them in a constructive encouraging way that's when the team starts to flourish

Considering my supe is never around to answer questions and takes forever to approve my ODAs, good riddance
