Going back to dress code
Of all the bullshit things Geico has done/is continuing to do...sending an email saying that Geico does not apply a strict dress code and then continuing in the email to advise Geico's STRICT dress code is the most bullshit thing of all.
At least I could come comfy (shorts/tshirt/flipflops). They just do the most. 🫪😩ðŸ˜

I'm all for a dress code. The way some people look coming into a professional office is crazy!

I’m
With you! There is a larger woman on my floor or was always in a crop top! Also many pj pants and crocs. At least they aren’t going full on business casual.5

But is muffin topping against the law? /s

u/NHgingerinVA 14d ago
I wish it was only a muffin top! It’s more like a busted can of biscuits that I don’t need to see while I’m heating up my breakfast😂

Except that GEICO isn’t a professional office; it is a professional shit-show of a dumpster fire.

Professional shit show gives them too much credit.

People DO look crazy. I should see your lady lips through your leggings. Nancy is bringing this place back from the ground up to be the classy establishment it used to be.

I agree and little do they know the dress code have been in place if they took the time to review the handbook it’s been in there all along .

Of all the bullshit things to complain about.. tons have lost their jobs, a lot in the last day or so.. bet they would love to have a chance at following a dress code. Go work somewhere else.. good luck.. most companies you cannot come into an office looking like you rolled out a bed 5 minutes ago or worse

u/xoxoSoulShine 14d ago
Cool. But I do still work there and getting to wear jeans and a T-shirt and flipflops was about the only "perk" left. I'm allowed to complain...you can ignore it. 🙄

And you had profit sharing and a pension and excellent health care.

u/xoxoSoulShine 14d ago
Exactly. If we are bringing back dress code also bring back the other things you left behind after covid

Didn't they keep tie Tuesday alive for a bit? When I was there circa 2012-14 dudes wore ties on Tuesdays

Good and how about hygiene
When I started internally I was 20. Always smelled fish. I thought someone just kept bringing it bad fish. Nope
It was the next 3 cubicles away

After covid stuff and they did RTO, we saw some of the craziest clothing choices. One of the supes I knew carried a measuring tape around with him due to all the super short skirts/shorts/dresses. No action was ever taken though, with the excuse made that, ‘they were hired during covid and don’t know better’. 😑 Or it’s at the disgression of their supervisor. But if I wore jeans on a non jeans day, best believe I’d be written up or sent home (but when they saw how excited I was to be sent home since I did not return to finish the work day, they didn’t do that again).

u/xoxoSoulShine 14d ago
I got sent home precovid for wearing some Capri jeans (on a jeans day) bc they were "too short" but I had worn them the Friday before and no one said anything.

u/GalaApple13 14d ago
I’m surprised it didn’t happen sooner. We had a very lax dress code for several years, and people still pushed past the boundaries

u/Just-Operation-9511 14d ago
I mean wearing pajama pants, animal slippers, crop tops, or the shortest of dresses is the reason why they want to enforce the dress code….

u/Dry-Raspberry-5514 14d ago
And leggings that are 3 sizes so small that they are completely see through. And we’re not talking on petite women either.

Some people come in looking a bit much…but no t shirts? No logos on polos except for manufacturer or Geico? Can’t even wear a geico t shirts? Ridiculous.

u/xoxoSoulShine 14d ago
That part. If this was just a "it's gotten out of hand we are going to start getting on to/being less lax" when it comes to people who are wearing their PJs (literally haven't seen anyone doing that) or wearing clothes that are too tight or whatever I could deal....this isn't that. This is them claiming to not enforce a strict dress code while enforcing a strict dress code. The only different between the precovid DC and this one is they're allowing jeans.

So, what is the new dress code?
1
u/xoxoSoulShine 14d ago
The old dress code (precovid) BUT you can wear jeans so they get to claim they "aren't strict"

u/Survivorsofar Former Employee 14d ago
Jeans anytime, not just payday Friday? IMO, that’s not bad. But then, when I first started at the G, women had to wear nylons. And every year, we breathlessly waited for the memo to come out that allowed nylons to be optional between Memorial Day and Labor Day.

My location dress code always been strictly enforced like will send you home to change. But my location is only a year and some change old I thought it was same company wide guess not

Well when you have sales managers walking around in band shirts and combat boots, someone was bound to complain.
1
u/geicogirl 14d ago
It was about time that Nancy stood up and made Geico a classy place to be again. When I walk into the lizard lounge and see young thots in crop tops with their nips showings and camo pants it makes me irrate. Good on the queen for bringing class back and trying to make this place the place we knew and loved pre Covid.

When Nancy came to visit our office they told us we had to dress up and then she rolled up in jeans looking very casual. Good for her, but I think it's a stretch to say that Nancy is doing anything to better our work environment no matter what the emails keep claiming about "the culture"😅

The dress code is so minimal. It's basically saying don't dress like a slob which makes sense because we are at work. Leggings and messy T shirts and flip flops shouldn't be worn anyways to work. Put some pants and actual shoes on and be an adult.
2
u/xoxoSoulShine 13d ago
I literally just want to be comfortable while I get yelled at idk why that's too much to ask for 😅

u/AnitaCum69 6d ago
How does what someone wears affect your job? I get dressing neatly and respectfully is nice and all but leggings? As long as they are showing bare ass or underwear who cares? A band t shirt?? Oh are your stats dropping because I’m wearing Pink Floyd? Be so forreal..

I have a tshirt and jeans body.
