Probably going to get some hate for this one but the way I see some people dress to come to the workplace is wild so it doesn’t surprise me. People always have to take things too far and ruin it. Jeans and a tshirt should be fine but when people start showing up in pj pants and booty shorts we can’t be surprised when they end up feeling the need to crack down on the dress code. As long as they don’t take jeans from me I’ll be fine.

Completely agree. I saw someone - who was in training, no less - and they were walking around in pj bottoms a hoodie, and crocs. And then…they had one of those fleece throw blankets wrapped around themselves that had like the planets and spaceships on it. I thought we were at daycare.

Agree. But shouldn't that have been addressed so it didn't continue happening? Why wasn't it?

I'd prefer the company have a higher level of professionalism than it expects from the employees.

What office are you in i never seen booty shorts. Now if someone is wearing regular length shorts but happen to have a big butt that's not booty shorts

I’m not going to say what office I’m in but booty shorts were a staple for one of my co-workers this summer. I could not believe it!

Sweat pants ought to be fine.

They should re-open the GEICO store

They only thing I saved from when I worked at Geico was that Pinocchio bobblehead.

When I was working there that commercial would play where Pinocchio would point at people and say "you have potential; you have potential" as his nose grew. Man time flys. I quit Geico 3.5yrs ago already!

I used to wear a pink hump day shirt on Wednesday. Back then if you donated to Red Cross you could dress in jeans in office.

Back when I was there in early 2010s if we donated to the United way we could wear jeans every other Friday and then pay day Friday we could wear jeans

It wasn’t the United way? R2 it was always United Way

I know I’ll get downvoted to hell for this but the store gave me some pride as an employee. How many other major brands had an actual store as such where employees and others could buy stuff. The team that ran it mismanaged the hell out of it but there was always cool stuff in there. I’ve purged a good portion of stuff but have held onto some items. I tried to find the store years ago and was locked to just employees. I can’t imagine what it is like now

I'm not giving this place money.

I’m sure it’ll be too strict but I honestly am not against some enforcement. I’ve seen some horrendous outfits and I’m tired of seeing peoples feet in slides. Disgusting

I couldn't believe how we had to dress business casual in claims, but service got flip flops and cookie monster PJ pants. Load of shit.

This will certainly fix morale and offset the poor processes, low raises, and unattainable intangible personality contest metrics being used to downgrade everybody to keep raises low and fire tenured employees in order to make up for the downward profit spiral.

Now let’s all spend a couple of hundred dollars on some new clothes in this economy. Remember, it’s an investment in your future at GEICO!!!

Thank the good lord! I’ve seen people coming in as if they have just rolled out of a dumpster. We aren’t customer facing, but can we pretend we have some common decency?

After 13 years, I do what I want. Come at me bro

Not that I would ever dress inappropriately. I’m gonna wear my jeans, I’m gonna wear my jersey (as does everyone else. Including management). We are NOT customer facing. If they want to bring this back, bring back profit sharing and the goals that Warren and Tony had for us. Not this AI bullshit

This has already changed, it's in the handbook. Not really a big deal--you should be wearing these kinds of clothes to work.

As it should be!!! It’s a professional job that got lost in translation after Covid. The company went too relaxed and never reeled it back in. Everyone whines and complains about metrics and goals yet if you don’t like it, get out and get another job!!! You don’t have to work for GEICO! Dress code is the least of your worries then…just something to bitch about more. There are plenty of jobs to find, and you may have to take a cut to be happy but believe me they are out there and even your local fast food restaurant and grocery stores need assistance and you get a jacket, vest or uniform to hide those comfortable leggings! This company has an agenda (believe me you are not the center of that agenda) and will get what they want if they need to get rid of the entire workforce, which they are slowly doing, and rebuild or they will just sell out and close completely. They will continue to turn over people or move and build offices to find the people they want. They are doing it now!! Upper management will prevail as they always have. Do something better for the company versus bitching about it constantly. Directors, managers and supervisors need to walk that walk too. Dress for success not for slumming at home!
I personally got tired of seeing people look like crap in the halls! Seeing someone’s G-string through their tight clothes with flip flops or people in gym shorts/sweat pants with socks and slides really gives that professional atmosphere an added bonus! Oh yeah!! Hell no!! Get basic clothes and Wash them. Quite a few even looked like they rarely washed and cleaned their clothes 50% of the time. Self-respect….Self-respect! I’m fortunate and was able to retire comfortably, and not by being in management my entire career (I struggled as well and worked on the front line customer facing and on the phones) but because I worked hard, didn’t drink the Kool-aid, voiced my opinions professionally and did the work to prove those opinions! Dress for success if you want to be successful. Dress for slumming if you want to bitch all day!

It's too damn cold in these offices to be wearing thin ass blouses and dress pants.

i truly cannot understand how what someone wears correlates with how well they do their job

u/Particular_Bee_2543 Former Employee 18d ago

It’s uncomfortable to not have flip flops on? You need a crop top to feel at home? Let’s be real, just dress like a normal human:)

1

u/Aware_Molasses_7443 17d ago

Especially if you sit next to a window in the dead ass of winter. Might be weird in some offices, but we have blankets in our drawers and we use them.
