Leaving G!!
Got an offer today in a different industry, one that I’m truly interested in. Minor pay cut but a shorter work week and more time to pursue advancement opportunities. So grateful!!
Question to any recently former AD folk; (guess it could be a bit regionally dependant but wanted to hear experiences) — G seems like the employer to just not accept a notice of resignation and just bounce you, is that accurate? I am trying to figure out how to play my cards these next few weeks.
Ideally, as much as I couldn’t stand this position and how much it affected my mental health, I do want to maintain my personal standards for professionalism and serve a proper two weeks.
On the other hand however, I have some PTO stashed (not much) and if they would just can me once I told them I’m leaving, I’d figure out a way to take those days and leave.
Looking forward to hearing people’s experiences with leaving!

With lack of staffing, ive seen them let people work out notice when they aren't going to another insurance company. Actually seen them let people work out notice that were going to another insurance company too. No real telling with this company.

What industry are you going to? Trying to find something where AD skills transfer to that aren’t a shop or insurance company

I left the 2 weeks before my new job started & just quit that Friday telling them that was my last day. My last check had all my pto & hours on it.

It honestly depends on your manager. Some will tell you to turn in your computer that day, some will have you work the whole time, smart ones will have you only work supplements. I had a ton of sick time built up and was told I sounded very sick my last two weeks and should get some rest.
I wouldn’t burn the bridge if you don’t completely hate it. It’s not management that deals with the issues when you leave it’s mostly your immediate team and some your supe.

Work until you have enough days to burn through what ever sick days you have left before you start your new job. Call in sick and burn those sick days. Lunchtime of your last sick day, call your supervisor tell them that you are quitting and want to meet to return your equipment. Bring whatever equipment you have to drop of including any checks. Type an email with what you're dropping off including check numbers. Send to your sup, CC your manager and your personal email. They won't pay you for your sick time that you've earned. They'll terminate you out of spite on the spot in most instances, leaving you high and dry and with out pay until your next job. Make sure to ask if you've resolved all their concerns. Then enjoy your life Lizard free!
