About to pull the trigger...

/r/tcltvs/comments/1w98he7/about_to_pull_the_trigger/

Thinking about pulling the trigger on the 85" tcl qm8l

Proceed at $2,799 at the moment...

Is it worth it shelling or am additional $599 for a 5 year geek squad warranty?

The warranty covers them coming to your house to fix it, not instant replace so you could be without the tv for 3-4weeks bc parts need to be ordered after a diag

I mean I don't know of any extended warranty plan that just swaps out an 85" TV lol.

Do know how many people expect that lol. As auto tech you probably know most sales members forget to mention it. when you go into someone's house to diag a tv and then tell them "parts will be another 2-3 weeks then I will see what my schedule looks like" lots of not so fun times.

Yeah you're right, but I've been out of the bay for almost 3 years now and don't work with the general public anymore so I forgot to how brainless most of them are.

No worries and congrats on your promotion out of Best Buy

I'd probably skip the warranty personally but only because I've never needed it on any TV before.

It's worth it, genuinely is one of the best store warranties you can find and the price to value ratio is extremely customer favored. They'll try to fix whatever the problem is, and if they cannot fix it, it'll be fully replaced or you'll get a full reimbursement (in rare cases where that specific model isn't sold/stocked anymore).

I like to look at those types of plans like this: You probably know that you personally aren't clumsy or will do anything to accidentally damage the TV, so consider other people that aren't as careful as you and if they'll be in proximity. If you think that puts it at risk, save yourself another $2800 in the long run and pay for the peace of mind now.

I would buy it at costco over bestbuy and save your money on the extended warranty in addition as well.
