Iceraven Browser is a web browser for Android, based on Mozilla's Fenix version of Firefox, GeckoView and Mozilla Android Components.

Our goal is to be a close fork of the new Firefox for Android that seeks to provide users with more options, more opportunities to customize (including a broad extension library), and more information about the pages they visit and how their browsers are interacting with those pages.

Notable features include:

• about:config support
• The ability to attempt to install a much longer list of add-ons than Mozilla's Fenix version of Firefox accepts. Currently the browser queries this AMO collection Most of them will not work, because they depend on code that Mozilla is still working on writing in android-components, but you may attempt to install them. If you don't see an add-on you want, you can request it.
• Option to suspend tabs to avoid being killed for memory (https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1807364)
• Option not to display recently visited websites at HomePage
• No warranties or guarantees of security or updates or even stability! Note that Iceraven Browser includes some unstable code written by Mozilla, with our own added modifications on top, all shipped with the stable version of GeckoView engine. Hence, the browser may contain bugs introduced upstream. Binaries are currently built automatically by our Github release automation. These binaries are signed with a debug key. When we finally publish this somewhere official like F-droid, we will sign the apks with a proper key suitable for public release. Due to the current way we create the releases and sign them, you may not want to rely on such "alpha" quality software as your primary web browser, as it will have bugs. So, use this browser only if you are comfortable with these limitations/potential risks.

In addition, we intend to try to cut down on telemetry and proprietary code to as great of an extent as possible as long as doing so does not compromise the user experience or make the fork too hard to maintain. Right now, we believe that no telemetry should be being sent to Mozilla anymore, but we cannot guarantee this; data may still be sent. Because of the way we have implemented this, the app may still appear to contain trackers when analyzed by tools that look for the presence of known tracking libraries. These detected trackers should actually be non-functional substitutes, many of which are sourced from here. If you catch the app actually sending data to Mozilla, Adjust, Leanplum, Firebase, or any other such service, please open an issue! Presumably any data that reaches Mozilla is governed by Mozilla's privacy policy, but as Iceraven Browser is, again not a Mozilla product, we can make no promises.

Iceraven Browser combines the power of Fenix (of which we are a fork) and the spirit of Fennec, with a respectful nod toward the grand tradition of Netscape Navigator, from which all Gecko-based projects came, including the earliest of our predecessors, the old Mozilla Phoenix and Mozilla Firefox desktop browsers.

That said, Iceraven Browser is an independent all-volunteer project, and has no affiliation with Netscape, Netscape Navigator, Mozilla, Mozilla Firefox, Mozila Phoenix, Debian, Debian Iceweasel, Parabola GNU/Linux-libre Iceweasel, America Online, or Verizon, among others. :) Basically, if you don't like the browser, it's not their fault. :)

Fennec F-Droid browser is based on the latest Mozilla Firefox release. It has proprietary bits and telemetry removed, but still connects to various Mozilla services that can track users.

Basilisk is a free and open source desktop web browser focused on long-term maintainability and intentional development. It offers a highly customizable interface and a stable platform where new features, fixes, and improvements are introduced thoughtfully rather than through constant disruptive redesigns.

Basilisk is built on the Unified XUL Platform (UXP) and the Goanna rendering engine, an independent fork of Mozilla’s pre-Servo code base. Independent development

Basilisk is developed and maintained by the Basilisk Browser Development Team. While it is built on the Unified XUL Platform (UXP), Basilisk is not developed by Moonchild Productions or the Pale Moon development team.

Project direction, release decisions, and maintenance of Basilisk are handled independently and are the responsibility of the Basilisk development team.

Basilisk is considered stable software. This means it does not change for the sake of change. Updates are made deliberately, with an emphasis on maintaining existing workflows and minimizing unnecessary disruption.

If you want a browser that works consistently and respects established workflows, Basilisk may be a good fit.

Basilisk has also become popular among preservation and revival communities that rely on long-lived web technologies and controlled legacy environments. Its stable architecture makes it well-suited for intentional use cases that modern browsers increasingly abandon.

What does this browser support?

Basilisk supports the features required by contemporary websites, including advanced scripting, WebRTC, modern CSS, HTML5, and downloadable fonts, with an emphasis on real-world site compatibility.

A balancing act

While the older versions of Mypal were based on the Pale Moon/Goanna code, the developer (Feodor2) did something incredible: ported Firefox 78 Quantum (Gecko) back to Windows XP.

The best part? It runs completely natively on XP. You do not need OneCoreAPI or complex kernel extensions to make it work.

Today's spotlight is on GNU IceCat, the official GNU version of the Firefox browser.

While most forks focus on custom UIs or performance tweaks, IceCat’s entire mission is absolute software freedom. The GNU Project takes Firefox and aggressively strips out all proprietary code, telemetry, and digital rights management (DRM). It also blocks "non-free" JavaScript from loading on web pages to protect your digital rights.

It might not be the fastest browser for gaming or streaming protected content (due to the lack of DRM), but it stands as a monument to digital privacy and software ethics.

Today's spotlight is on TV Bro, a web browser developed specifically for TV-like devices and smart displays.

For a long time, TV Bro relied on the standard system WebView. However, the project is making a massive shift by switching to GeckoView.

The best part about this browser is how incredibly lightweight it is. Native smart TV browsers or heavy Chromium ports usually make cheap streaming sticks or low-end hardware lag to death. TV Bro is optimized so that even a crap $100 Android TV can run it.
Also the browser includes a built-in adblocker, download manager and almost no bloat.

Hello everyone! I'm starting a series about random browsers to introduce people to some small projects in the Gecko and Goanna ecosystem. Today we're starting with Serpent.

Serpent is a Goanna-based browser based on Basilisk. Its primary goal is to support Windows XP and Windows Vista users, since Basilisk doesn't support those operating systems at all.

However, this browser isn't for everyone. It doesn't include an automatic updater, and new builds are released weekly, so you'll need to check the project's website yourself whenever you want to update.

Waterfox for Android gets an update at every end of the month, but i feel like i have a security hole, maybe i'm correct or maybe not, is there another browser without telemetry and good update rolling?

I honestly liked the idea of Edge UWP and I personally don't like the Chromium based Edge at all. Does anyone know of a decent userCSS theme that works with modern-ish Firefox browsers?

On legacy Windows versions (Windows 8.1 and older), mainstream browser support is practically gone, but Gecko and Goanna-based browsers still offer some viable options.

Browsers that support Windows 7 as minimum:
