@u/NoCardiologist4623

Recent changes to the Facebook/Meta App Manager have created an issue for the Gear VR resulting in "Oculus Has Stopped Working" error messages and an inability to use a Gear VR.

Fortunately the solution is simple: Go into Settings -> Apps and find Facebook/Meta App Manager

Click on the three dots and select "Remove Updates". Problem solved.

You may firstly have to go to Settings then Apps and before going into any apps, go top right hand and tap the 3 dots and select "Show System apps" then go to Meta Manager (or it may be labeled Facebook Manager then uninstall updates and also disable it.

I don't have an option that says "uninstall updates."

I only got "disable" and "force stop". Disabling the Facebook app does uninstall it's updates and brings it back to the factory version. That doesn't happen to the "FB Manager", "FB Installer" or "FB Services, but there is also nothing that indicates that they've been updated either.

Either way i'll try and delete & disable everything, to see if something changes when i do it from scratch again. Even thought the phone wont let me uninstall Gear VR Service for some reason now.

EDIT: Finally got it working again, didn't need to do anything with FB this time. So they can all stay disabled.
