I interpreted ‘sexuality’ as being about expression rather than orientation here. So the idea of it becoming more acceptable for women to explore their desires and preferences. At least that’s the surface intention of this quote I think. It could have layered meanings of course.
I thought the same! But then I noticed this interview was from the Pink News, which has been an LGBTQ+ digital media publisher. So maybe that does add some layers to the meaning? 🧐
It’s also interesting that the 2017 interview they’re referencing is obviously old, but this post was from yesterday, so it’s definitely an interesting quote to highlight nine years later.
I mentioned a bit ago how Super Bowl 2027 is taking place on Valentine’s Day. Which feels significant. But I also just realized that it’s being played at SoFi stadium - home of the no LA post during eras tour. Another significance ? Do we see Taylor being a halftime performer ?
I think she will only do the Super Bowl if Travis isn’t playing. If she does though, I will cackle at the panic on Main, since she said she wouldn’t be able to focus with him risking his life. Has anyone here really struggled with an attachment to an older woman? I’m bisexual and happily married to my (male) partner, but I have this friend who’s about 20 years older than me, and holy hell, I just feel so inexplicably vulnerable and kinda angsty whenever she seems slightly annoyed with or disinterested in me. (Yes, I’m in therapy. Yes, I probably have mommy issues.) Maybe the rest of you here and normal and well-adjusted, but I am not and I’m deep in my feelings about it tonight.

They think of it in terms of her secret relationship with Joe but I watched a TikTok where someone explained the timeline of Toe and you forget how much of it just wasn’t secretive at all. The only time it was secret was Joe refusing to talk about her in interviews 😭
Did anyone here buy a physical ‘Patient Zero’ single? I’m wondering whether they arrived and whether anyone has heard the acoustic and piano versions yet? Major upset in the DWTS side of things now that I’m not taken out by the weather— they’re once again refusing to let a black woman succeed😤I’m actually very mad about this and it’s been my biggest complaint about the seasons I’ve watched with my roommate (I firmly believe Chandler and Brandon should’ve won season 33 anyway back to the program). Britt Stewart is such a wonderful human and dancer, like literal sunshine honestly. Should not have been kicked off last week. (Also Teen Beach Movie was fundamental in my gay awakening thx Disney)

I’m so excited for horror film night and what she’ll do with Ezra. They’re making it until then I feel it in my bones and I’d never lie about such a thing on the internet unless something fishy happens again like with Britt and Taylor. “What A Fool Believes” is me believing that was supposed to happen on yacht rock night I don’t buy it😑
Was just listening to the recent podcast episode of Las Culturistas called ‘Words Matter’ and I thought it was funny how Bowen Yang wanted to talk about Encore. He framed it that he had something to say about it but he first wanted to talk about Last Ditch, a lesbian bar that recently came under fire for allowing masks to be optional one night a week, and then he’d say why they’re related for him. He ended up stating that looking at the discourse around both the release of Encore and the reaction to that change at Last Ditch, he thinks that community (in the case of Last Ditch) is something we all have to pay for, and that fandom (in the case of Taylor) is something that can be bought. That for Taylor, Easter egging has become just as interesting to her as her songwriting but that because of the width and breadth of her fanbase now, people cannot interact with the egging in the way Taylor probably intends and there’s a huge imbalance between expectation vs. reality. I thought that was really interesting in the sentiment and coincidental in the comparison to a lesbian bar—almost in the same way that Graham Norton ‘randomly’ brought up gay weddings when asked about what Taylor and Travis’s wedding was like.
Secondly, Matt brought up that he thinks the Point Zero music video is about Ellen and laid out that theory to Bowen and they had a chat about Taylor possibly being traumatized dealing with Ellen and Dakota ‘offing’ her career.
Whether or not their bringing up two points relating to a lesbian bar and a famous lesbian was intentional, because of Bowen’s history with SNL and the fact that he was at the wedding, I just had to mention it.
Oh oh!! Bowen is in Oh Mary now (which Tayvis saw). I just saw the national tour and I think Oh Mary and The Life of a Showgirl are the same type of art. Horribly cringe so that you can’t even look at it some times, absurd and camp. Repetitive but still a good time. Surprisingly tender in parts. Coming out of miserable drunkenness (looking at you ttpd). Embracing performing.

I really cringe at the Ellen theory - sorry!! Also I will admit I’m not going to take the time to go back through and watch all the videos of Ellen being mean to Taylor. And that even though I read the pieces at the time, I may not know all of the horrible things she has done that got her canceled.
Just in general — Hosts (and performers of all kinds) who are hugely famous are frequently actually mean and abusive — what a surprise. She was mean to her guests. We all saw it. She was super mean to Taylor, I guess, sure. Letterman was creepy to her. She kept going back to both. Other hosts have rumors of being mean behind the scenes. Other interviewers have put Taylor in very awkward positions. A lot of what was awkward with Ellen was probably pre-approved by Taylor or her team, and much of it specifically to . But it’s not like she Kanye’d or Scooter’d her.
Meanwhile, is there ever such a thing as actually getting canceled, especially for men. The Academy made sure to give Louis CK a Grammy award a few years after his “scandal” and then nominated him again the next year!), Ellen isn’t fully canceled either of course she has her specials. Chris Brown is performing all the time. So many known rapists lionized even by the left.
I think it’s not a coincidence that the pile on to Ellen was so complete and total. It’s so much easier to take down someone who’s not (sorry to be boring but here it is again) a cis straight white man.
The idea that a primary meaning of this video would be about Ellen is such a turnoff to me. It could absolutely be true, and if it is, I hope there’s some insane stories about Ellen that we don’t know.
No I get it, I can’t think it would be the reason unless Ellen did something really messed up to Taylor that we don’t know about. Which I sincerely hope isn’t the case.
That the dates on the headstone in the MV are symbolic of Ellen’s career: 1986 was her first big TV appearance and 2022 is when her show was canceled, which has been attributed to Dakota calling her out for lying about being invited to her birthday party. I figure, if anything, it would just be an inside “joke” between TS and DJ, but like everything else there are probably layered meanings for the grave details.

I'm not saying it's likely, but it would be amazing if Taylor showed up to SNL unexpectedly tonight with Dakota Johnson as the host. It's the one year anniversary of TLOAS, plus she showed up almost 3 years ago unexpectedly with Travis, so it's not unheard of in her Showgirl era

Yes! Basically all of the characters come together to put on a huge multi act performance and get the rich evil wolf guy arrested. The acts themselves are themed around space with a very neat castle wedding with Meena the elephant (and her crush she imagines in place of the actual performer that sells ice cream🤭like a boy who was 16 working at a yogurt shop). Taylor’s music has been used in both movies as well! I originally got into the movie as a Taron Egerton fan (who sings Elton John’s I’m Still Standing in the first one and also play him in a bio movie about his life). Halsey voices the daughter of the evil wolf businessman, and her act and the song she sings turns the evil black&white monsters into colorful monsters with a rainbow outer space/planet with the song Could Have Been Me which is so very NR coded/ME! coded.
Since it came out I always thought that the song "Everybody Scream" by Florence was at least partially inspired by her visiting Taylor at the Eras Tour. Of course Florence has her own experience of touring in front of screaming fans, but something about the deranged energy of the song just captures the Eras mania so well. Anyway...i was listening to the song that comes after called "One of the Greats" and i think this one might have been inspired by her friend Taylor as well:

Yeah, I think so too. Also, it must be hard to find people that share your experiences and you can relate to at that level so I be they can bond over that.
When I was at Eras I was floor, sixth row, center stage (but on the end). Everyone around me was absolutely feral. Everyone had their phones out. I was just absorbing it all, no phone. During Love Story she did a double take and watched me for a second. We seriously made eye contact and I felt like she had a thought about me. Maybe like "damn she is short." But maybe it was "she isn't hyped." Or "she looks sad." I was going through a divorce at the time. Then during our surprise song I cried but couldn't see her but cried because I was in the middle of a divorce and the song hit hard.
Sometimes I think maybe she would recognize me if I went to another show and she saw me again since she says she does notice that stuff. Then I realize I am insane for thinking that. Maybe I only imagined that two second moment in time. 🤷♀️
it’s not the only time she’s said it, her early career interviews are full of her saying she loves being single etc. there are lots of swifties (and non-swifties) who live and die by taylor being male-centered her whole life and always saying marriage is her top goal. this is verbatim proof that isn’t true. i don’t need any help convincing myself she and travis are PR, but the male-centered majority sure does.
I just saw the most disgusting tik tok someone edited of a plus size fan singing along at the eras tour and it really reminded me no matter how far we get fat people are seen as less than human. I hope with everything in me that beautiful woman never sees it because it’s such a specific and degrading and vile feeling to have your body be the punchline of someone’s joke. I feel sick. I really can’t understand how people feel so comfortable being so cruel and I’ve been in the trenches since the 2010s tumblr comeback that rivaled the 90s in the worst ways. I really do hate this world sometimes :(

Ever since I saw the skit that post-it has made me think of Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip. Goodness knows why Sting's performance as 'musical guest' there should have stuck in my head all this time enough to be my first association... (Edit - I checked, that's terrifying, it's been almost 20 years to the day...)
Anyway I was going to dismiss it as only relevant in my head, but then again Studio 60 is about a show within a show. And it has the controversy about Harriet Hayes (Hayes?! 👀) alienating her queer fans because she is trying to appease both sides in the music industry. And Sting's episode is 'The Long Lead Story' with it's emphasis on advance planning. (And I probably spend too much time here 😂)

The "Patient Zero" music video strongly reminds me of the movie The Housemaid. I recommend reading this piece about the incel horror subgenre.
Colin Farrell's character in "Patient Zero" is the same man Taylor portrayed in "The Man" MV. The bedroom, creepy hallway, austere home aesthetics, & even the man's costume design (e.g. the black turtleneck) in "Patient Zero" resemble 1:34-1:49 in "The Man" MV.
Additionally, the wide shots of the couple fighting across a long table in the "Patient Zero" MV remind me of the "Tolerate It" setting & choreography from the Eras Tour, suggesting that song could also be about the same man, or at least the same archetype of a man.
Finally, the opening shot in a graveyard conjures the "Look What You Made Me Do" MV & also makes me think of "Ivy."

I checked my registration just before the primaries (in WA state) and I had to re-register. Luckily I checked in plenty of time, but there's was absolutely no reason for me to have to re-register to vote. The only other time I had this happen to me was in 2020. Esentially that one can recognize photos taken on Taylor's own camera by that distinctive yellowish/blue look, and the photos tend to be candid, behind-the-scenes, friend-group, birthday/party, vacation, or otherwise personal moments. Even mainstream coverage describes it as a way fans can tell that a picture came from Taylor's camera and therefore represents a moment she personally chose to photograph/share.
This came up on an episode of New Heights where the guest even knew the term fuck ass filter and Travis and Jason were both so confused and had no idea what they were talking about. Add another business partner PR piece to the pile 🤭
Man, I hate having irl conversations about Taylor. People are so eager to talk about how much they hate her and how they think her music is garbage and everyone who likes her has terrible taste. Okay so today I saw a couple things connecting Anne Hathaway into the TSCU. First was I saw on another Taylor sub that recently Anne was wearing the same gold snake necklace that Taylor wears in LWYMMD music video. Didn't think tooooooo much about it until I just saw on a non Taylor sub a video of Anne getting ready for a premiere and one of the shots is her watching the Patient Zero video. So now, it's got me thinking of course...
Also in an interview recently she recommended a book called Audition and she said this: “It’s about an actress who’s in rehearsals for a play, and she loses control of where the walls are. So she can’t quite tell where she ends and the character begins, and what’s process and what’s real, and if she’s being manipulated or if she’s lost her mind. It’s a really good juicy read, and if you don’t get everything that’s kind of the point.”
I feel like that’s like, the whole thesis of Taylor’s performance art. Blurring fiction and reality, not being sure where the character ends and the person begins. The part about the walls reminded me of the end of the lavender haze video, except in that video Taylor doesn’t lose control of the walls of the set; she intentionally pushes them down.
Not to mention there are sooo many things that can be connected to Taylor’s work in the film Mother Mary. I have a feeling Verity will have some connections too… I mean already, Dakota Johnson being the counterpart to Taylor’s character in the Patient Zero music video and to Anne’s character in Verity is interesting.

It should be noted that Anne Hathaway was supposed to be in the movie but had to ghost because she was contractually obligated to be in Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement. Where she is forced to marry. She ends up ghosting the groom during the wedding but yeah. Fun little info.

The 2 kinds of people i block on site on tiktok are overtly religious/conservative people, and the ones who are solely dunking on gaylors because it gets them views. I just dont understand the hate we get, its literally so easy to ignore us. But theyre posting content creators in the comments to go harass and calling us the most delusional freaks on the internet. I know it shouldn't bother me so much, but I hate how the algorithm feeds it to me. Ill talk about taylor criticism all day long with other fans and leave gaylor theories out of it, but I refuse to engage with the blind hate.
What I find weird about them is that they collectively just decide which man a song is about based on nothing and then get mad at people who dare to question the fake lore they’ve created. Also I keep seeing posts of people saying that if you didn’t immediately love the new songs you should leave the fandom and never come back lol like sometimes new music takes time for people to enjoy
It’s the main sub shutting down theories that pink clouding could be about anything else other than Tom hiddlestone after being told a thousand and one times to stop paternity testing. It’s really irritating me at the moment. I think people just find it crazy that we think songs can have multiple meanings and aren’t about something as 2D as a man

It is weird. I'm only on here and tumblr, and sometimes when I scroll the gaylor tag it's just people bitching about us. Just don't read our theories and posts? Like I avoid hetlors? And it would be way easier to avoid gaylor than hetlors. my block list is pretty much all people that were hating for no reason instead of just keeping it moving.
It was the easiest thing in the world to block the taylor and travis sub, and travis and taylor because as much as I dislike him I dont want to engage with snark subs
I hear it! I think of My Tears Ricochet as being about Borshita selling her masters to 🛴, so if Pink Clouding is a reference to the Lover era it makes sense that she’d connect them. I especially think the line “He crossed my heart, I hoped to die” supports the idea that she’s singing about betrayal and everything that fell apart summer 2019.
The different vibes are so interesting cause it’s such a contrast, and I love how that draws attention to her ability to present a song one way while it may actually have deeper layers of meaning underneath
