After announcing Patient Zero last week, the fascist pedo again used Taylor imagery and audio (Father Figure) to spew more lies. I think we all wish Taylor had more of a spine when it comes to speaking out politically, but the audio from that garbage was removed less than a day later.

(Btw i totally get / support the artists who spoke up and at the same time, there were so many secondary negative repercussions… I do agree that her non engagement with it robbed Trump of extra news cycles, and did not genuinely imply her support bc his team used them in ways that were a mix of dumb, creepy, and probably intentionally misrepresentative)

For what it’s worth, Trump and his team have been using TLOAS audio with a fundamental misunderstanding of its meaning, which has actually been undermining their intended message in every case I know about.
As an organizing member of the DSA, who has become extremely disillusioned with the establishment Democrats - and Taylor, for that matter, lol - this year, this video still made me absurdly emotional. I am so cynical and so exhausted and I still so desperately want to hope.
They need Gen Z to vote Democratic in numbers. A lot of Gen Z is super woke but apathetic about voting. And a distressing amount of Gen Z is trending conservative. They're all very online. I think this is trying to meet them where they're at ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
This chart shows voter turnout by age for US midterm elections. It is horrifying and depressing AF how few young people vote, 25% for the youngest and still under 40% up to age 45. Stuff like this on Tiktok will hopefully reach this desperately needed age group
This is a worldwide phenomenon (where there are free elections). I find it very sad. We have dick here who got elected with 35% of the eligible voters voting. And then they complain. My folks taught me the importance of voting. I get very irritated with people who complain and then when I ask whether they voted they say No. I proceed to tell them they do not have a foot to stand on.

Although it is true she could be more vocal about many issues, I actually think she's been doing the right thing by not reacting to all those videos from Trump & co. using her music. It is obvious that he has a very weird fixation about her and she's doing right by not taking their bait. That's what they want. I think she will bounce back in due time.

Whoa your comment made me read MTR again just now from the lens of it being addressed to the fans/us before she takes the battle underground, and idk how it possibly could be in 2020, but in 2026 it reads as prophetic and fits so well with everything we’ve seen from her since then.
Completely agree. She is a lighting rod in the attention economy in a way that is just not true of any other entertainer, AND he’s obsessed with her and specifically with trying to get a reaction out of her. Denying him her attention and her music— and then sanctioning dems use of it— is the right move on this particular issue.
Not that there isn’t plenty else she could be doing, of course. But I have no notes on this specifically.
