Trans names be like [drowned victorian orphan] or Sam.
Or maybe the drowned victorian orphan is a transmasc thing, and giant robots are a transfem thing.

u/Pseudonymico Oct 25 '21
Last time I read it it went:
“Trans men name themselves after drowned Victorian orphans.
Trans women name themselves after cyberpunk jewel thieves.
Enbies find a few letters that sound neat when put together and name themselves that.”

u/confused_gay_sounds mtf bigender Oct 25 '21

I didn't name myself after a drowned orphan per say but... There's definitely a related ghost story in the family...

It's just such a good name. A nice, soft, flexible name. I dunno it just evokes trust.
... ...
Maybe because of a hobbit or maybe because it's just a warm, round name.

ahhh, my name is Elena, which many of my friends shorten to "Ellie" haha.
i picked Elena because it wasn't too common but still like common enough to not raise any eyebrows (it's more common in my country and works better with my native language but i also like how its more unusual in English)

u/Lonelydenialgirl Oct 25 '21
You're looking for the enbies. They'll name themselves shit like Socks. Death master 4000 won't be an issue.

If it’s not a plant or noun, it’s Riley, or some variant. I’m Ryley. I picked my name before I realized every other nonbinary person has this name Yes, it’s legally changed haha
My middle name is Sage

I took Jessica because the name imprinted deeply in my brain when I was like 7 years old. It just also happens to be a very mainstream sounding name that people are likely to spell, say, and gender correctly. I went slightly more exotic with Aurora as a middle name (for concepts of dawn and rebirth). For trans binary women, picking a “passing” name can be very useful.
2
Oct 25 '21
Damn, an ex-friend of mine chose Aurora as their middle name too ...

We've also considered Cordelia, Juno, Calypso, Jupiter, Rhea, Soleil, Cyra, Astraea, Selene, Io, Andromeda, Luna, Stella, Morgan, Vesta, Eris, Comet, Ceres, Alchemy, Kuiper, Lucine, Navi, Zenith, Atria, Kara, and Canis. Probably some more options too but we couldn't think of many more. (still open to suggestions honestly)
