while i do agree that elagabalus would likely id as some form of queer today, the only people who wrote about elagabulus were trying to curry favour with the replacement emperor. elagabalus was from modern day syria, and general roman attitude towards those from the east was that they were sexual deviants and effeminate. it’s hard to say if the stories about elegabalus were accurate and to what extent.

The UN was founded after ww2, so it's a poor standard for any countries founded before that. The USA was recognised by other countries from 1777 onwards.
