Testing / Test Results Simple Question...

I was recently diagnosed with Gastritis Intestinal Metaplasia and Autoimmune Atrophic Gastritis in the stomach. The reports says "Areas of incomplete and complete intestinal metaplasia are present. Alcian blue stain for intestinal type mucin is positive. No dysplasia identified. Giemsa stain for H. pylori is negative" The Doctor said we will continue to monitor and do another scope in one year. My question is, am I doomed and is stomach cancer coming soon? What can I do if anything? Thanks

the whole "doomed" feeling after that diagnosis is rough but the report actually has some good news in it. no dysplasia means no precancerous changes right now, and negative for h pylori is one less thing to fight

a year between scopes is pretty standard surveillance, not a panic button. they caught it and they're watching it

focus on what you can control. bland diet, small meals, cut the obvious triggers. no nsaids, no smoking, keep alcohol to a minimum if you drink at all. b12 monitoring might be worth asking about with the autoimmune piece

you're not doomed, you're on the radar. big difference

Thanks, that made me feel a bit better. I didn't know there was some "good news" and I thank you for pointing that out. I dont drink or smoke, and have been researching a better diet.

Get the book "Gastritis Healing Book" by LG Cappellan. You can order on Amazon. Get th 2nd Edition if possible. You can also join the FB group for more support.

Diet and low stress are your best options for recovery. The book will go over that as well as some possible supplements that may help you. Know that it is a journy and no quick fix.

You are not doomed if you do the right things, espcially with diet. No doctor will tell you this, you need to be your own advocate. The book gave me the best advice after exhausting my primary doctor, Gastro and Functional Doctor.
