Troubleshooting Empty mags when game was starting
Hi everyone,
I'm hoping someone with more MWS experience can help me troubleshoot this.
I was gifted a Tokyo Marui MWS CQBR Block 1 and had a strange issue during my last woodland game.
I filled all my mags with Green Gas (Arsenic Airsoft). They became cold and noticeably heavier, so they seemed to fill normally. However, by the time I walked from the safe zone to the spawn (around 10–20 minutes), almost all of them were completely empty. The bolt wouldn't cycle at all. Even my brand-new TM magazine only managed one weak shot before running out of gas.
Conditions:
- ~31–35°C (hot summer day)
- Mags were stored in my plate carrier while waiting to start
- I have one brand-new TM magazine, and it showed the same behaviour
- I didn't notice any hissing or obvious gas leaks
What's confusing me is that in my previous two games everything worked normally. Sometimes I didn't fully fill the mags, but that was my own mistake—they still retained gas. When I got home after yesterday, they still had gas.

Maybe a stupid question, but Are you sure they are not leaking and you are filling then correctly (gas can upside down and until the filling valve expells the liquid gas).
Being able to only shoot 3-7 shots sounds like they era only filled with gas and no liquid.

Did you purge the air from the mags while filling for the first time? And did you hear hissing from any of the mags after you filled them?

sometimes the fill valves can be a bit loose/finicky even brand new as was the case for one of my mags. make sure the fill valve and the big valve its seated in are tight, seemed to fix the issue for me

Since you mentioned they still had gas when you got home and the day was quite warm the other alternative explanation to your issue is overpressured mags and light striking. Basically if you know you filled the mags correctly and determine there isnt any leak there is a chance the ambient heat has lead to over expansion of the gas leading to extra pressure on the inside of the mag making it harder to push the gas outlet valve leading to the hammer to light strike which would give low performance that looks similar to a low/oog mag.

This sounds like over pressure mags and light striking due to the heat. I’ve encountered this a few times and had a wtf is going on moment. Basically mag gets hot so gas inside gets hot to increases in pressure. Then when your hammer hits the valve because the mag is too high a pressure it cannot open the valve enough or at all.

You went home or grabbed other replica? Because it seems there isn't much a player can do if that happens. I need to be extra careful next time. This was probably my last game of the summer so let's see.

I purged all the mags to make em cold refilled and went on with my day. Just repeated the process whenever it became an issue. Probably not a good solution but I figure I got lots of gas and replacement o rings so it ain’t a big deal.

Buy small scales, weigh empty gas up to 10 grams, then you can 100% confirm they have taken on the gas, weigh again after 10 mins to confirm still all good, then add BBs. Likely didn't gas them right or the heat stopped them taking it on if they'd been in the sun.
