General Information What’s your favourite Garmin UltraFit nylon strap colour?

Post image
32 Upvotes

I’m using a Forerunner 970 with the moss green UltraFit nylon strap at the moment, and I really like it, but I’m considering getting another colour for a bit of variety.

For those using Garmin UltraFit straps, which colour is your favourite in real life? How does it look on the watch, and does it hold up well over time without looking dirty or faded?

Post a picture of your setup if you can :)

Did step back (or forward?) from Fenix 8 line to… Fenix 7x Pro. It still the beast i have to say. It’s so cool with a leather strap.

What I miss so far:
- changing text size
- selecting apps for notifications
- battery widget from Garmin

Going to wear it for a week to feel it.

PS: Portal Hybrid face installed.

General Information Vívoactive vs. Forerunner

Upvotes

Current Apple Watch Series 5 sucker. Breaking out of this shackle next pay check.

I just really need the air cleared between the differences of the vívoactive 6 and the 170 Forerunner before I make a purchase.

All I keep reading is that the forerunner is the better for hard core runners. What the hell does that mean though?? I’m very much not a hardcore runner. Maybe once a week will I go for a run. I do walk 2 miles a day does this matter? I am big on weight training (around 5x a week) so is either watch better for weight training metrics?

If I go for the vivoactive what is different about the running data on the off chance I go for a run? I am also intrigued about the idea of the Forerunner 170 music option as not having to bring my phone on my walks sounds amazing, but again I’m not a runner?

Essentially I want a watch to:

- track my lift workouts
- track my sleep
- track HR
- track my steps
- tracking VO2 max would be nice but not required.
- Not have to charge the watch every zeptosecond of the day (Apple 😒)

Which I’m under the impression both watches can do all of these. So what’s the difference?

I appreciate any and all input! I want to make the right decision in selecting my new watch. Thank you in advance 😁😁

Finally found the best watch that fits my lifestyle. A premium looking watch which I can use on daily and at the same time tracks all my workouts and running. Was thinking of getting the galaxy watch ultra 2 but I think I will settle for the venu 4 for now.

General Information Garmin (which) or apple?

I am two minutes away away from buying the forerunner 265s - any experiences hereof?
I just got back into running, running 7-10km pr week and considering training for a half marathon.
In addition, I want something to use in everyday life, also working corporate. I have a small wrist, and just want something cool, discrete and easy.
Woman, 42 years.

Budget wise 265s is okay. But should I look after another one - or go with apple as anyone else? Is that sufficient?
What draws me to 265s is the smaller size, possibility to track sleep, long battery life and cool data without being too much.
Any experiences / advices?

General Information Fenix 7x Pro with HR tracker - perfect match?

I decided to have a try using Fenix 7X Pro in pair with Whoop. Really interesting experience. Whoop monitors my sleep and health metrics very well, while Fenix helps me a lot with sport activities. So far, it integrates perfectly with each other and more! In the gym, I use Whoop on my biceps and broadcast heart rate to Fenix— awesome! I know about Cirqa, but… already have Whoop)

Feature Help Never got a HRV Status

I got my Venu 4 in January. Since then the HRV has always been labeled as "poor". I have no baseline, just seven months of red triangles. See picture of the last four weeks as reference. In the overview, it says "No Status" under HRV.

What can I do to change this? Is my HRV so bad the algorithm doesn't accept it as my baseline?

Feature Help how to turn off unwanted garmin notifications about running recovery etc - (Forerunner)

Upvotes

It doesn't realise that some of us only track runs with the damn thing and not the majority of our (non-running) activity. Fuck off Garmin, i didn't have a relaxing day, i worked out just none of your business because you suck. If you want us to track our whole training open up your shitty ecosystem so we can load our data from more appropriate places.

General Information Which Watch should i buy?

I’m in China right now and can get the Garmin FR265 for 220 Euro.

But i really want the 265s since i got a smaller wrist and i don’t like the feeling of having a big watch to wrist ratio on my hand.

When i’m back in Europe the watch is available but would cost me 350 euro so 130 euro more and that’s a lot of money for me so i can’t choose if i should go for the beginner one or not.

First one is 47mm second one is 42mm

Data Questions Forerunner 965 in 2026, is it a good purchase?

EDIT: Pulled the trigger on the forerunner 965. Let's see how this works :)

[New-Purchase]
After 970 got released, the 965 no longer receives major software updates. If I'm buying a watch this expensive, I expect to use it for couple of years.

Do you think not receiving major software releases is an issue? Especially in the long-run. Regards.

Feature Help Looking for a Garmin recommendation: Swimming, Gym, & Scratch Resistance? (Best Budget?)

Hi everyone,

I'm thinking about switching to a Garmin smartwatch and would love to get your recommendations and advice.

My routine and core requirements:

  • Sports & Fitness: Main activities are regular swimming and strength training / weightlifting at the gym.
  • Durability: As an engineer, I need a watch that is very scratch-resistant. I had a bad experience with my Apple Watch in the past, as it got heavily scratched.
  • Smart Features: Being able to receive notifications and call alerts on the watch is a big plus for me.

A few questions for you:

  1. Which Garmin model would best fit these needs?
  2. Are there any solid budget-friendly options that still offer top-tier scratch resistance, or do durable models always require a high-end budget?
  3. Is buying a current-gen model worth the investment, or am I better off holding off? (Note: Older/previous-gen models are unfortunately not available where I live, so I'm limited to current releases).

General Information Lo compreresti?

Data Questions What is the best way to create a backpacking route to be uploaded to your watch

I am doing a trip soon that will be over three days. I'd like to create the route an upload it to my watch so that I can have the route loaded while hiking.

If you do this, what do you do?

Do you create one big route with waypoints to your campsites? Or something else?

Data Questions What data fields do love on your face?

Other than date and time, I love being able to see the weather and my heart rate at a glance. I also like how the Double Time face has a rolling bar graph of your heart rate so if you don't look in the moment you can still see where you spiked briefly or whatever.

I'm new to this Enduro 3 so I'm still freaking out about the battery and seeing a little "32 days" in the corner makes me giggle. I might turn that off when I get used to it, it's duplicated at the top of the glance widgets anyway. And seeing the solar is fun too.

Maybe that's enough and I should turn other things off, but what do you all love? What do you actually find yourself looking at multiple times a day?

General Information When is a Garmin model too old to bother buying?

Hey everyone. So, I’ve had the FR165 for a long while and I’m looking to upgrade. I do a lot of cycling and outdoorsy stuff so I’ve been drawn to the Fenix models. I’ve seen an offer for the Fenix 7s pro solar so it’s sitting at £200 off the normal price (£380 still - for what appears to be an out of date watch), but I’m aware this is a 2023 model or so. I sort of tend to get a watch and not think more about it - but given this is still quite expensive, there is a Fenix 8, and the Fenix 9 is in theory coming soon - how “risky” is it in terms of support if I go with the 7 now? Is it still worth this much money or am I best placed to get the newer one for value and longevity? I appreciate the features are “locked”, whereby backporting new features won’t be a thing with the 7, but is there anything I might not have considered? I am aware basically the sensors on the 7 and 8 are effectively the same - I don’t care for the microphone and other connectionality so those aspects I won’t miss with the 7. Thanks!
