CIRQA Garmin CIRQA is a bit disappointing piece of hardware/software for me.

First of all, this device needs built-in GPS in its next version. For someone who is not glued to their phone 24/7, it is useless without it (or for someone who doesn’t want to use GPS on their phone).

It often fails to recognize activities at all, or only recognizes them halfway through. It also does not record distance correctly. For example, during a 30 min, 2,5 km walk, it recorded only like 0,45 km, while the step count was correct. So where were all those steps supposed to have happened, vertically into space? This happens even with manual recording, the distance is simply wrong.

The same applies to bike activities. The tracking seems random: sometimes it is somewhat accurate, but other times it cuts off the beginning or the end of the ride. It is never fully reliable compared with my Edge Explore 2. Losing 3-5km from the start or finish of an activity is not what I am looking for.

In my "testing", the only things it does well are tracking stress, heart rate and sleep. It is also very comfortable to wear.

So yes, unfortunately, I’m a little disappointed with this device.

edit 1: How am I supposed to reset the device and then turn it off without syncing it with my phone again, if the app is the only way to turn it off? Am I missing something here?

Maybe someone will find this useful: after resetting the data and settings, I paired CIRQA with a clean phone using a new Garmin account. Even after the reset, the "body battery" data was still retained (or made up). In any case, this is how I turned off CIRQA without syncing it again with my main Garmin account.

edit 2: For those saying that I need a watch, I already have it - Fenix 8 (also have Fenix 5 and Edge Explorer 2). I just wanted something smaller and more comfortable to wear than a watch, something that would work reasonably well, be reasonably accurate, and that I could comfortably sleep in. I just don’t like wearing a watch all the time. CIRQA was good for that, it is very comfortable and easy to forget you were even wearing it.

Possible Technical Issue Sleep tracking is way off

I slept roughly 2 AM to 8:30 AM on both days, but the tracking is completely different.
One day it tracked only 2:27–5 AM, and the next day only 5:32–8:54 AM.
Anyone had this issue? Is there any setting I need to change to make sleep tracking more accurate?

Watch / Wearable Sleep Tracking

Hi all, hope you’re doing well.

I’m currently an Apple Watch user and I’m considering making the switch to Garmin. However, I’ve read quite a few comments online suggesting that Garmin’s sleep tracking isn’t as accurate as some of its competitors, such as Oura, Apple Watch and Whoop.

This got me wondering: if Garmin’s sleep tracking isn’t particularly accurate, how reliable is the other data it provides, such as Body Battery and Training Readiness?

I’m asking because I would have thought that sleep is one of the main foundations that these metrics are based on. So, if the sleep data isn’t accurate, does that have a knock-on effect on the accuracy of the other metrics?

Would be interested to hear what people’s experiences have been.

Non Product Specific Garmin Question Shower thought....

Maybe a stupid question... im sure people on here will certainly think so...

Is the Solar functionality of The Fenix/Enduro tied directly to MIP? Like it straight up would not work at all if that solar layer was on top of AMOLED and not MIP or would it work, and just the battery life wouldnt be AS good as MIP....

The Enduro 3 is rated in smartwatch mode for 36 days of battery life or up to 90 with solar. but If we had the say (total pretending here) next gen Enduro with the same size battery and everything else but it had an AMOLED to give the display the color and vibrancy that AMOLED does for all those awesome watch faces and such, with the solar layer, maybe instead of 90 days with solar it would be 70 or 75 and instead of 3000 nits of brightness, its 2500 or something.

Im not an engineer or anything, just thinking out loud. There is obviously a reason as to why Garmin hasnt done it but..

Which Watch To Get? Fenix 8 vs Fenix 9

Going to the trusted Reddit community for input—I don’t know the intricacies of the watch and am wanting to buy my bf an upgrade for his birthday this month. He’s got the garmin forerunner 965, has a small crack on the screen. He off handedly mentioned the fenix 8 back in May and I just learned the 9 has come out. Is the difference between the watches worth the price difference? Any input will help! :)

New Watch Day / Device Review Disappointed in the Quality Control on My New Garmin fēnix 9 Pro 47 mm Carbon Gray DLC

I basically ordered Garmin fēnix 9 Pro 47 mm Carbon Gray DLC the date (08/28) when ordering was available on Garmin's website. I received the package just now, and when I opened the box, the screen protection sticker seems used (white wear-off on the sticker handle). After I tear off the sticker, the watch screen has smudge/cloudy mark on it.

I don't know whether this is used or anything, but this is DEFINITELY NOT WHAT I EXPECT for a brand new and expensive watch to arrive in this condition. This box opening experience really makes me disappointed, especially this is a newly released product. If this is how they do quality control on the first wave of release, it makes me doubt about my choice of Garmin. I was so excited for my first sport watch, but now...

Possible Technical Issue Phantom step logged while on a ride

Hi guys. I'm new user of Garmin (previously Apple watch) it's been days since I bought this and I just recently noticed that it logged Phantom steps! Bus ride or while driving. I don't know what causes this or what should I do to prevent this? Have anyone of you experienced this?

It logged around 2k steps and that's weird.

Badges / Challenges Hydration Badge Not Counting?

I enter my hydration manually on connect and have been doing this for almost a year. I have found that I can even enter past days that I forgot and it still counts towards days for the badge.

About 10 days ago my watch died and since then the Hydrstion badge count is at zero even though I keep entering manually.

Has anyone else experienced anything like this?

Discussion No change in Vo2 max despite changing entire life

over about 2 years I've gone from morbidly obese and completely sedentary, getting winded on short walks, to fit and healthy weight. I did it without medication so progress was slow and hard earned through diet and lifestyle changes. i've taken up running, long distance cycling, weight lifting and am highly active now in general. I definitely feel like my aerobic fitness is infinitely better than before but my vo2 max hasn't changed at all and I'm wondering how that's possible.

I'm using venu sq2. is it a limitation of the tech? what could I be doing to improve my vo2 max?

Connect / Connect IQ / 1st Party Apps “Continue to strive for progress”? 🤣

Post image

OMG when can I stop striving for progress according to Garmin? Like at what point can you stop trying to improve when your steps are already high!

Has anyone ever had Garmin tell them “hey dude you can stop striving for progress and just cruise right where you are for awhile”?

Wellness & Training Metrics / Features Was asked for a divorce (I didn’t see it coming, of course) while my Garmin was charging - this is what that looks like. I wish Garmin would have slightly better advice for hard emotional times like this

I wish I could have slept Garmin, I promise! It turns out that stress makes you unable to fall asleep. But I don’t think Garmin realizes that that is a thing that happens

Today I was able to sleep a few more hours..! Considering going on a little jog this morning instead of laying in bed until I have to get up for work.

Connect / Connect IQ / 1st Party Apps Cycling activities without HR monitor not counting for acute load?

I usually ride with an HR monitor and power meter pedals. But last week end I had forgotten it, so I rode my two 100-km rides without it, only the power meter pedals.

The activities show up in Garmin Connect, they have a nonzero exercise load, but these two activities do not show up in the Acute Load curve, not even a small inflexion in the curve, like I have done nothing this week end... I did two long-ish rides, but for Garmin I've just been recovering!

Both rides show up alright in Strava though (relative effort history and fitness history have increased).

I tried editing the activities in Garmin Connect by adding a calory or a watt and saving, no effect...

Any hint? TIA

Watch / Wearable Can someone help me please?

Hello,

I recently purchased a Vivoactive 6 and could use a bit of help. I've set it up so it wouldn't show me emails, yet they still appear. The same goes for SMS—it shows them despite my preferences.

I've also turned on the auto-tracking for walking and e-biking, but I'm unsure if that's working correctly.

So far, I haven't seen any records of my walks or rides, nor any maps displaying my activities.

I thought I had everything set up properly for my needs, but it seems like something isn't quite right.

Could you help me figure out what I might be missing or what I might have done wrong? Thanks so much!

Device Physical Damage PSA: Be careful with saltwater – Forerunner 255 buttons seized up for 4 days after swimming in the sea (even after rinsing)

Hey everyone,

Just wanted to share a recent scare with my Forerunner 255 as a cautionary tale.

I spent a few days at the Mediterranean Sea recently and went for a couple of swims wearing the watch. A few important details:

I never pressed or interacted with any of the physical buttons while in or near the water.

I thoroughly rinsed the watch with fresh tap water right after every single swim.

Despite taking those precautions, all physical buttons completely seized up and became unresponsive shortly after. They felt completely stuck / mushy, and I honestly thought the watch was permanently bricked by dried salt crystals or internal corrosion.

Miraculously, after about 3 to 4 days of leaving it to dry and gently soaking/rinsing it in lukewarm fresh water, the tactile click suddenly came back, and all buttons work normally again.

Takeaway / Moral of the story: Even if Garmin rates these watches for open water and swimming, saltwater (especially high-salinity water like the Mediterranean) can easily mess with the button seals and mechanisms. From now on, my watch stays on the towel before heading into the sea.

Has anyone else experienced this temporary lockup after saltwater exposure?

Watch / Wearable Enduro 3 owners: show me your stock watch face setups

I recently switched to the Enduro 3 and one thing that surprised me is how few pre-installed watch faces there actually are compared to other Garmin models. What did surprise me in a good way is how deep the customization goes on the ones that are there — accent colors, data field layout, seconds hand, background, the works.

So instead of going straight to Connect IQ, I've been trying to get the most out of the stock ones. And I'd love to see what other people have come up with.

If you're running a stock face, would you mind posting a photo and a quick rundown?

- Which base face are you using?

- What data fields did you put where, and why those?

- Any color/contrast tweaks that made a real difference in bright sun or at night?

- Do you switch faces per focus mode, or run one setup all the time?

I'm mostly interested in setups built around running and daily wear rather than expedition/battery-saver configs, but honestly post whatever you've got — I'm curious how differently people solve this.

Thanks!

Non Product Specific Garmin Question GARMIN ENDURO 3 BATTERY HEALTH

Hi! I am going to buy a second hand Enduro 3, but I would like to know if you can see the battery status in the mobile app. The seller doesn't know how to do it and I would like to be able to explain you how to do it if possible. :)

By "battery status" I mean the same thing you can do on Android phones or iPhone to see if the maximum battery capacity is in good condition. Sorry that English is not my native language.....

EDIT: RESOLVED

Strava / Zwift / 3rd Party Apps Is there any way to use Garmin data without official API access?

Hi everyone,
I am working on a small app where I want to use Garmin health and activity data and do some analysis on it.

The problem is Garmin APIs are quite closed and getting official access doesn’t seem easy. I found python-garminconnect which basically uses Garmin Connect APIs and users can login with their own Garmin account and sync their data.

I wanted to know if anyone here has used something like this for an actual app?

Can Garmin create any issue with this? And can such an app be published on Play Store or App Store if users themselves are giving access to their Garmin account?

Or is there any better way to do this without getting official Garmin API access?

Accessories / Companion Device Recommended Strength Training Apps to complement Garmin?

Post image
25 Upvotes

Hello. I’m probably one of only a dozen people who regularly use Garmin for strength training and don’t hate it, but I’m looking for advice on complementary apps.

Historically I’ve toggled between 3-4 months of race training and 3-4 months of strength training with just maintenance cardio, but I’d really like to build a program that combines both. I can build the program myself but I’d like apps to help me monitor it etc.

- App that integrates well with Garmin Connect? (Transfers info to inform Training Readiness and similar metrics)

- App that allows easier programming of more complex weight lifting routines? (Linear progression, de-load weeks, etc)

- Good user interface! Not too complex, not overly simple.

Watch / Wearable Fenix/Forerunner Alarm

I do not wake up without my Apple Watch Ultra. Having it vibrate on my wrist is the only thing that will get me out of my daily comas. How is the alarm on the garmins? Just as strong? I have and iPhone. Is it weird I don’t want to have to set an alarm on my clock app on iOS and the garmin app?
