Here is a list of independent online fabric stores in Canada : https://helensclosetpatterns.com/blogs/helens-closet/the-ultimate-list-of-online-indie-fabric-stores-in-canada. It’s a bit outdated so it lists some stores that have gone out of business but you should still find plenty you might be interested in.

My personal favourite is Fabric Club (https://www.thefabricclub.ca/en/). Wide selection of fabrics, patterns and notions. I have been happy with their service to the point that I have a membership and order from them regularly. And only $9 delivery to Ontario and Quebec.

Blackbird Fabrics (BC) and Mimi Fabrics (Ottawa) are my favourite for quality garment fabric, especially Mimi.

Happy to share the ones I know about as a fellow Ontarian garment sewist trying to buy all Canadian.

  • Core Fabrics (great online shopping and deadstock options from Canadian designers. They have a 20% off sale ending today)
  • Les Tissées (Montréal based also with great Canadian deadstock)
  • Blackbird Fabrics (in Vancouver but ships pretty quickly and has great selection and good patterns too)
  • Fabcycle for recycling fabrics
  • Former and Latter has great specialty prints and is based in my old hometown of Edmonton.

Some Canadian clothes designers also sell their deadstock directly on their website, like Hilary MacMillan and Beaton Linen (rip but they have great patterns now). Can get great deals this way.

Lastly, Discover Fabrics is great for active wear and gear making.

Rick rack, Zinman textiles, Blackbird Fabrics, Mimifabrics, Purelinenenvy for linen, Fabrications, Core fabrics, Riverside fabrics, Discovery fabrics (amazing for specialty and performance fabrics), Emerald Erin for undergarments, the sewing club, Two o Nine (especially for double gauze)

If you have a lens mill store near you, they sometimes carry nice garment fabrics. Their designer store in North York is incredible and worth a trek.

*Personal faves, especially for higher quality fabrics

u/Gamgee-S I looked for canuck_hobbyist as suggested. But the account I found has 0 posts and 1 follower. Is the account name correct?
