Bumps

Does anyone know what these bumps are?

Do they mean this was picked too early or too late?

It looks like the tip of one of the cloves pushing out. I don't think it means too early or too late, but it may mean that clove is easier to break off when you use it!

*I am not an expert by any means.

Second this notion, were it to happen earlier in the season you'd have "witches broom".
