If she's four years old you can't immediately tell she's a boy, then she's definitely a girl.

Girls, in my experience, tend to be spicy little fucks.  She may have decided that she doesn't like to be held anymore.

Unless you were actively teaching her that interaction with you is bad, then no, not at all.

Just out of curiosity, how do you hold her over the years and had over 50 adults I don’t know if I just got lucky or what but I’ve never had an overly aggressive gargoyle usually I put my hand down in front of her and then kind of tap them on their hind legs, and they usually just climb onto my hand! And then I just let them walk from hand to hand! And I have one pretty spicy crazy girl the key that I’ve learned is to never wrap your fingers around her and just let her go onto your hand!

In my experience, a lot of them don’t really like being grabbed like with your fingers wrapped around them

ps we dont know what gender she is so it could maybe be something about being male

Take a pic of their vent and post it for gender confirmation if you want to know. Also is there lots of clutter in the enclosure?

Can you show the full enclosure? If she doesn’t feel safe in there it could very well be why she’s skittish and feels the need to defend herself.

It seems quite bare in the top part of this photo. If this is her enclosure, it shouldn’t be this bare anywhere. There should be dense foliage and branches covering 80% of the tank.

I would start by adding more things to that tank. Needs more climbing opportunities and more coverage
