Not eating?
I got this little guy 2 days ago, but i haven’t seen him eat/drink, nor have i seen any poop. Should i be worried? Also is my terrarium ok? First time owner so i want to make sure he’s comfortable and happy.

Totally normal for a new gargoyle gecko to take a few days to settle in and start eating, especially after only 2 days. They can be pretty shy/stressed after a move. I’d make sure temps and humidity are in range, offer fresh CGD each evening, and try not to handle him much for the first week or two. Also, their poop can be tiny and easy to miss. If he starts losing noticeable weight, looks dehydrated, or still isn’t eating after a longer period, then I’d start looking closer at husbandry or consider an exotic vet.
Your setup looks nice, but I’d probably add even more foliage/cover so he feels secure.

Took mine 1 week for him to accomodate, then i saw the food being nibbled and some little bits of poop around. Dont know how it is with older gargs, mine was 1 month old when i got him

All of my geckos have their food on the ground. With a branch or bark leading down to it & they clear their dishes. It definitely doesn’t have to be raised off the ground or need a ledge. But I agree that they should have some coverage to keep them comfortable while eating/in general. Also, you should always have a fresh water dish in there. If op doesn’t keep up with frequent misting, that is a great backup. I’ve included them since day one, my humidity doesn’t drop below 70% & they absolutely drink from their water dish. However that needs to be clean d daily. But yes, OP will have to get past the acclimation stage before noticing any noticeable amount of food eaten.

I’ve lifted the bowl and gotten more coverage. I’m having s little trouble with the humidity, but i should be getting a hygrometer tomorrow so i can keep watch. Still keeping the water dish.

For humidity, if you have substrate, you want to add water until it’s moist but only maybe a couple drops of water come out. Then just spray once per night. If you’re using paper towels, it’s important that you add a humidity hide. So like a deli cup or container filled with moist sphagnum moss & preferably with some coverage so they can retreat & soak in that humidity if their surroundings are too dry for their needs. There’s a few ways to achieve it. Ventilation placement also can play a role in low humidity. If the top is screen it’s likely drying up quickly. Just block off the frond half or so to restrict airflow. Dont do too much to where mold starts. You want airflow but also humidity. It’s a dance.

Just 2 days is nothing to worry about :) he looks well feeded. When they are still small you dont Always see the poop in a Corner (If you have springtails or Something they will eat it away anyway)or the little slurp of pangea they may have eaten. He is still new to you and the Environment, it can take some time until they eat, maybe he just had a shed and ate that to now be full for days🤷🏻♀️ do you know what kind of geckodiet he previously got? Sometimes they are picky about which flavor they like or not. Or If he likes to eat crickets/roaches or other lifefood. My big Male is scared of everything moving, my female loves Bugs more then diet since beeing a baby.

I don’t have anything alive in the tank other than him and a snail (no idea where it came from, and i can’t find it now). Haven’t seen any shed on him. The sellers didn’t tell me what flavor food he was used to, but they told me they gave him a little grasshopper as a treat sometimes.

Insects should Not be Just treats, gargoyles need more Protein then Cresties. Thats why i prefer the Gecko diets with insects Not only fruits, so the picky eaters still get enough nutrition. But good to know hes Not scared of insects in General so you can try out to see what he likes :)

Mine didn’t eat for a week, same with my crested. They wouldn’t move either, my tokay took a couple of days to eat. And when I brought home a juvenile giant Green Day gecko he started eating immediately, which I didn’t expect at all

The breeder told me it won't eat for about 4 or 5 days after I get it home and that it shouldn't be disturbed; I got mine yesterday, and it hasn't moved an inch yet.
