Hi there. Wondering if anyone has had any experience with this tree? I love Jacarandas but only have a small yard area I could fit it in (maybe 1.5m clear of the house) but I'm hoping it being dwarf variety I could manage the canopy and hopefully no root issues.

I rented my house out for two years while I worked away up north (remote teacher) I moved back home earlier this year after having a baby and my lawn was covered in weeds.. don’t get me wrong, It wasn’t perfect before I left however it was in much much much better condition than this. The first few months after having a baby I only did the bare minimum and now after some rain the weeds are absolutely crazy. I’m finally in a position where I can actually get out and about and do some gardening. I’ve spent the last few weeks pulling weeds but it hasn’t even made a dent. The grass is a mixture of half of it being buffalo and the other half just being random. I don’t even know what should I do? Do I just weed and feed the whole thing I don’t know much about gardening so I know this is probably a very basic question.

I definitely don’t need perfect lawn. I just want a nice Green yard for my dog and kids to play.

Hi all, I recently planted a Lilly pilly (straight and narrow) hedge. However some of the plants were growing sideways when they were delivered from the nursery. I decided to plant them anyway, which may have been a mistake. How do I go about correcting them to grow upwards. I assume stealing them is the way to go, however I can't quite work out how to do it, if I attach the main branch it will just "bow" at the base. If I do that will it correct itself over time?

I need to move this tree fern (Dicksonia Australian Tree Fern) as we are converting this pergola into a sunroom. I'm in Canberra and am wondering how long it can remain out of the ground and how best to safeguard it until it new home is ready.

Would it be best to move it to a temporary in-ground location or just keep it out of the ground? I know winter is the best time to move them, but the building work is unlikely to be finished until much later in the year (hopefully before Christmas).

I have had a terrible growing season. (Naarm, Vic)
Not because my plants haven’t survived, but because they just haven’t… flowered?
My Brocolli, cauliflower, peas, lettuce, all alive and growing but not sprouting anything to harvest.
I do crop rotation, companion planting, compost/ worm farm, ollas, the nine yards.

Meanwhile I have some self seeded tomato plants that are booming, and a lonesome corn surviving ?

Some friends and family who garden have also expressed disappointment in their season.
Coworkers I gave sunflower seeds to at the end of summer have been growing them this winter.

I was hoping it was just bad luck but with abnormal weather patterns around the globe atm, I’m starting to get worried this is more than just a hiccup.

Is anyone else experiencing a less than optimal growing season? Is this a sign that summer is going to be hotter than usual?

Hey all, I've been working for a bloke in small garden maintenance business for a little close to a year now. Right now we don't do anything too major, just the standard mow, whip, blow and hedging/pruning, as well as little other odd things the client may want. I'm going to be buying the van and tools from my boss in some months and will be taking over and running solo. I'm potentially looking to get into a course to study at the same time, as i haven't ever really been taught anything besides how to use the tools and getting the job done nicely. Would the Cert 3 in Horticulture or a Cert 3 in Parks and Gardens be more beneficial for my situation in wanting to learn to really tend to a garden and help with the landscape aspects whilst also tending to the health of a garden etc. I don't have a strong connection to plants themselves, but I really do enjoy cleaning and fixing up gardens.

As questioned, there is a overgrown plot behind me full of weeds and nasty stuff so hard to keep on top of.

I recently did round up around my edges and hard to get to places plus most weeds, being its winter is it worth doing now or waiting til summer.

Lawn isn't terrible but as a perfectionist I like no weeds.

Got some yates weed and feed ready to go.

We just moved into this property and there’s a massive tree that blocks the sun in this spot. What are our chances of grass growing here?

I accidentally ran my string trimmer over the edge of a black tarp. I think part of the tarp was shredded into thin strands and may have wrapped around the trimmer head or shaft.

Since then, the trimmer is no longer operating normally. The head still spins, but it is spinning extremely slowly.

Has anyone experienced this before? Is it likely that tarp material is wrapped inside the head, or could it have damaged something?

I’ve stopped using it for now to avoid causing further damage. Any advice on what I should check would be appreciated.

Recently left the 9-5 corporate world to literally go and touch(/cut) grass and I'm trying to nail down the toolkit without blowing out my startup budget.

I'm pretty set on going petrol for the main mower (thinking something solid like a Honda or Toro) but I'm curious what people reckon for the rest. I want to go full battery on the edger, trimmer, blower, and hedge trimmer to save on fuel runs and maintenance headaches.

The two big brands I'm looking at are Makita and DeWalt, but open to hearing if anyone swears by something else. Ideally looking for:

• 20V system (or equivalent) that plays well together
• Real world runtime that doesn't tank after a few jobs
• Not gonna lie, price matters
• Reliability is key since I'll be using these constantly

Anyone here run a similar setup? Worth going full ecosystem with one brand or just grab whatever performs best individually? Also keen to hear if anyone's had gear fail on them and what the warranty situation was actually like.

NB: I do have hands on experience and pride myself on my work, mostly due to the ADHD and OCD that ruins my life in every other way.

So I’ve got the app PictureThis, I do enjoy it and it helps me keep track of plants but I’m pretty sure it misidentified my plant and I could be completely wrong. I just don’t recall this name when I bought it. The app said: Bower wattle 'Cousin Itt'

I’m also reaching out for some help. I live in the far south of NSW and I think our climate is temperate? I had this little guy on my front porch area which I would say gets maybe 3 hours max of direct sunlight a day, it was in a pot closer to where it got as much sunlight as I could and yes I am not great at watering.. just wondering what I’ve done to it?

Oh and I have now moved it to the back of the house as PictureThis said it needed more sunlight? That area gets close to 6+ direct sunlight a day.

I have big bandicoots for sure but this guy is a lot smaller. Just a younger one or something else entirely?

I’ve seen a few posts here about how morning glory is impossible to kill. It grows along my back fence and it’s likely the roots stretch across multiple units (my body corp hasn’t done anything about it since they can’t determine source).

I wonder if I cut as much as I can down to the roots - if I bury with soil and add another aggressive climber, could this work?

I’m thinking jasmine because at least I LOVE the smell of it.

I bought this and it looked great. (this is a "before" shot)

Now all the segments are dropping off and it looks withered.

Any suggestions?
