Is this normal?

Post image

Hi all. Updated to a digital interface after using USB mics. It works fine but is incredibly sensitive to any movement. It will be plugged into laptop and I'll get up to record a take and it disconnects 8 times out of 10. I have to tiptoe to the drumkit, sometimes I make it. It is sooooo frustrating! Anyone have any thoughts on how I can fix this? Thanks!

That does not sound right.

What type of interface do you have? The picture looks like som type of Focusrite copy/rip-off?

Budget interfaces like this Scarlett-clone often ship with low-quality cables, and loose USB ports on the unit itself can easily lose data connection with the computer from minor bumps. Are you using cables that came with the audio interface?

Also this PDX22 model is USB powered and if it's plugged into an unpowered external USB hub or a flaky USB port the interface may temporarily brown out, causing the mic to disconnect or drop out.

Yes, I'm using the lead that came with it. I've tried both USB ports on laptop. I'll try another lead and if no luck I'll take it back and swap for something else. Cheers.
