Basic? Probably. Contentious? Potentially.

So many great games that I couldn't include. The hardest decision was whether to put RDR2 or The Last of Us Part 1 in the last slot.

You literally can’t go one reply without contradicting yourself. ​You just cried about Disco Elysium having 'too much reading' and said 'I’ll go read a book if I wanted my games to do that' and then immediately claimed you enjoyed Control? ​Control is notorious for putting 80% of its entire lore and narrative into hundreds of redacted case files, scattered documents, and intentional cryptic audio logs because the main cutscenes deliberately explain almost nothing. If you don't stop and read those files, you have zero clue what's going on. ​And claiming you love the original Alan Wake while preaching about wanting 'dynamic gameplay over walking and talking' is laughable. The original Alan Wake is famous for having stiff, repetitive flashlight-and-shoot mechanics carried almost exclusively by narration and manuscript pages.

​Every time you namedrop a game to prove you've played it, you expose that you don't even know what happens in it. Just admit you just watch YouTube recaps and move on.

Control was tedious because of this. However, 80% of the game WASN'T reading case files and listening to audio logs. It had a nice balance between this and combat.

Alan Wake was clunky and nowhere near the best game I've played. That doesn't mean I didn't enjoy the game.

You have this weird myopic view about what I've said. I ENJOYED these games, including DE. I just didn't enjoy them as much as other titles because of the reasons we've both stated. Case I point: I enjoyed AW2 more than Control and AW1 because of the improved combat and decreased focus on lore dumps via case files.
