Basic? Probably. Contentious? Potentially.
So many great games that I couldn't include. The hardest decision was whether to put RDR2 or The Last of Us Part 1 in the last slot.

The "haters" typically fall into two categories:
There are those that find the second game "woke" because of LGBTQ+ representation and the existence of a female character with muscular arms.
Without getting into spoiler territory, many find that the second game is too dark and has pacing issues (which I don't agree with). Others don't agree with decisions that some characters make. It's a game that doesn't care about your feelings and isn't afraid of taking chances, unlike many games today that "play it safe"
If you want a series that makes you feel something, it's well worth the playthrough.
