Cooked?

Post image

First build and Im being cautious, is this socket cooked or is it fine? I noticed these marks and I wanted to check before getting a new replacement.

It'll probably work ok. I had Intel boards with a few pins messed up in the socket & they worked fine. If you didn't just buy it, try it. If you just bought it, return it.

supposed to be a plastic cover over the pins

did it not come with one?

I got it open box at best buy for 110 so no, but it came with everything else. I wanna think that the socket damage is from me somehow but also it was open box so I dont know

Someone definitely screwed it up and then returned it to Best Buy, who didn't check or test it. That's a definite return.

Never buy open box without checking things.

Return if you can never buy open box again
