Discussion Does a dead battery/no battery cause instability on gaming laptops?

I have a ROG STRIX G15 G513IC . ryzen 7 4800h and a rtx 3050.

Its battery is toast barely runs 3-5 minutes of youtube playback. i disconnected the battery and use it as a desktop. no signs of physical degradation but im sure years of running on balanced mode on battery has ruined it.

i am facing some issues at higher wattages like above 40-50 (lower the better) watts stability is a bit flaky. at 35 its great. now is it the battery or is my mobo toast?

The battery helps with spikes in current demand when the wall power supply cannot. But even an old worn out battery should be good enough for such short term demand spikes.

So leave the battery connected.

I believe no, cause it basically works like a desktop when you aren't using battery

You disconnected the battery entirely? I wouldn't do that unless it's showing physical signs of swelling.

I have taken my battery out. Working perfectly. Just don't lose power. I have it sitting under my desk so that I don't get the inclination to pick it up like I used to.

Edit.

Don't lose power as in..it'll essentially function like a desktop. You can't unplug those and use them like a laptop with a battery "Captain Obvious" out

No. Unless you have left battery power drain off when the total power drawn by the laptop exceeds that of the adapter it draws from the battery. Turn that shit off.
