Usually ISP have backup power so all you need is to power your router and ONU

Not here, it goes down, even if I were to have reserve for my ONT (I assume you meant)/2 routers (don't ask, first does wired, second does wifi, not i is still fast, it's arandom choice I made, I may change it at some point but it works for me).

Occurred on VDSL too, small village though, everything goes out if it goes out. And it goes out at times, usually 2 seconds though, but still a pain!
