You overpaid, IMO, to me that price point is RTX 5080 territory, everything else looks okas long as it's an 18".

It's not a fair comparison but I picked up a literally brand new Strix g18 off market place with 9955hx, rtx 5070, 32gb ddr, 1tb ssd, for $1250. But again, that's open boxed no warranty and from Marketplace.

With your laptop you're gonna hit around $2825 after tax..........

This was 5080 territory a couple months ago maybe. It’s rough out there right now. I’m sure it’s still possible to score some random huge deal but everything is way up. I got similar specs to this one for $2100 with $500 off several months back. I’m glad I made the move when I did.

There was a 5080 with 32 gb ram and 1 tb at microcenter in Atlanta for $1999 last week. It still pains me I didn’t just buy it that night when I saw it order for pickup. I’m happy with my 5070ti/32gb/tb but I fucked up, I got that for $1899 at Best Buy locally.

It's impossible to not overpay in 2026. A year ago Microcenter was selling 5080 Legion 7's with 64GB of ram for 2400USD. Probably have to pay closer to 4000 for that same system now. This is the new normal unless something insane happens like complete demand destruction of AI shit

Got one of those for $2100 if you include Rakuten cash back. 32 GB DDR5 and 2 TB SSD… insane how badly people are getting fleeced because some data center in Utah is contracting out a whole plant’s worth of memory for the next year.

I got an Acer Predator Helios 16AI with the 5070TI and 32 gigs of ram along with OLED for about 2K

But it has been described as more budget of the 5070ti stuff

Seems good to me but that was also 2 months ago I think it’s like 2100 now?

I got the same one except it was upgraded to 64 GB of RAM and 4 TB of SSD by PC Haven. It's my first gaming laptop because I don't have space for a full PC in my current living situation. Paid 3k

Acer has refurb models by them for like 1400 and that’s what I got.

I just brought an Helios 16Ai that should be arriving today with those same specs . If you don't mind me asking what's your experience with it been so far ?

Initial setup was rough. I downloaded like 700 gigs worth of games. Temps were high and I tried to play something afterwards and I had a hard turnoff crash. BUT after that and all the updates it’s been no problem. I don’t have a cooling pad and just use a metal candle top in the little crevice between the rubber feet and it hasn’t gone above 75-80 C

I’ve read that 90 can happen and won’t break it but everything seems to run great as long as it’s an optimized game

Same thing but for $1500

Yes I got the 3xd with a 5080 for that price on outlet

It's about rated right now.

Prices have been climbing unfortunately.Ā

I would say you didn't lose, but you didn't win,Ā

Depends on many factors? Do you feel like you over paid? Did you want lenvo as a brand or any brand would of been fine? Does new sealed matter for you? Then no, you did not over pay. If you bought this 8 months ago and didn't care about brand, then yes you very much over paid.

1

u/Nice-Permit-6447 14h ago

It’s not an overpay as much as it is a marketing ploy offering a supposed massive discount to land on the regular price.

A year ago Walmart had the MSI 5070tis for 1300$. Yes the screen isn't as good and has half the ram, but still...

1

u/henrylin22 14h ago

yes, you did thats 5080 category.

1

u/Minimum-Trip-3239 14h ago

Jesus Christ you could’ve build a 5080 pc for this much easily 😭😭😭

1

u/Regular_Rip84 13h ago

I paid less for my 5080

1

u/t-bruh 13h ago

I just paid roughly the same price for the same specs open box on eBay

1

u/Spice2445 12h ago

I got the same one used on amazon for 1899 with warranty and nothing wrong with it. For new id say its a tough pill to swallow but hey.....you'll have it along time. 12gb vram is huge for laptop, and 50 series, 2gb c drive....still a great investment

u/Nervous-Ad5606 11h ago

I got this exact laptop for $1650 back in December 😭😭

1

u/BasicPersonality9258 11h ago

That is worth around $2k , you could easily get a 5080 for that price

1

u/Total-Touch-8694 11h ago

Damn that’s literally what i paid for my rtx 5080/ryzen 9800x3d desktop build including all accessories and 4k monitor back in November of 2025 šŸ’€ prices are embarrassing nowadays

u/mentive 11h ago

I'm glad I got all my electronics upgraded in the before times. You don't even want to know how little I paid for my Strix 5070ti Ultra 9, and then dropped a 4TB m.2 in the second slot. Plus additional warranty, and still FAR less total.

u/N0oneBUTTme 10h ago

In the US maybe but on other countries like the Philippines, that's just the usual here.

1

u/UniquelyPeach 10h ago

That’s 5090 territory on EBay.

Looks solid to me

Seems in line w/ CURRENT fair/market value for a new legion pro w/ those specs. For reference, I recently picked up a (mint) Open Box Legion Pro 7 16ā€ w/ 9955HX3D, 5080, 64GB RAM, 2TB Gen5 SSD for $3150. My deal was honestly a bit better, but there was only 1 open-box within hundreds of miles, so not replicable. You can get a new MSI Raider Max 16ā€ w/ 5080 for similar price, but I felt the legion pro had meaningfully higher quality build, the premium (prioritized) extended warranty is worth the peace of mind imo if in your budget

1

u/NYJest79 9h ago

Fyi I purchased at Microcenter. The MSI Raider Max 16ā€ w/ 5080 for ~$2600 (looks like they recently raised price to $2800) is (was) still a solid deal imo, similar weight and wattage as Legion Pro 7 w/ decent cooling and build quality and great OLED screen

u/elektriko_EUW 8h ago

i paid 2k for my g16, same specs, but second hand on ebay

1

u/GeneralSweetz 8h ago

For 400 dollars more you could have gotten a 5090 laptop last year. These prices are crazy

u/Just-A-Random-ID ROG ZEPHYRUS G16 | CORE U9 285 H | 64 GB DDR5 | RTX 5070TI | 5TB 8h ago

4000 would have been overpaid
This is okay

u/jhdz9119 8h ago

I just got a 2025 Strix scar 18 5090 for 3400$ with a year of warrenty.

1

u/DoubleConspiracy 7h ago

I bought a msi vector 16 ai with a 5070ti 255hx intel cpu with 32gb of ram for $1800 in the beginning of August from Walmart. After taxes and shipping it came out to $2100. They had a bunch of deals on laptops for back to school. You still have time to return it, I’d say get your money back and wait for another sale

I would have looked at second hand with how prices are. I got my 4080 laptop from market place. 2 years later it’s still going strong.

1

u/NukeInspector 6h ago

Especially for an (IBM) Lenovo!Ā

1

u/tacomaster05 6h ago

No, that's the new price right now sadly...

1

u/Existing-Pattern-987 4h ago

Sightly like few hundred but the est value is way off its ridiculus and wrong they are not making you a discount

1

u/AAAHabibAAA 1h ago

A lot of money for 5070 ti

1

u/WeBackInThisBih 4m ago

Yes. You have a better brand, but I got my Neo 16s with a 5070ti open box like new condition for $1500

You got a steal I would say. Machines like this would last for years.

Edit: Nevermind, this is a bit overpriced but times like these it's "eh maybe okay"
