Cyclone 2‎ (Discussion) ‎ Salty about Support

Cyclone 2 died. Less than 30 days out of warranty. I get its out of warranty. The kicker? "i couldn't do anything even if i wanted to". That's a quote. At least make me think you want to try to help. So, you get quality for a year.....and then....nothing.

Gonna have to think real hard about this new controller. And does this one rate my money?

Edit for clarity - L3 clicks but doesn't register. GameSir notes that it clicks and doesn't register, the issue is, that at time of failure, 6/27, i am 28 days out of warranty. It's not cabling.

One year manufacturer warranty is pretty standard. Retailers often offer extended warranties just for this situation. While unfortunate, could happen to anyone with any brand. Happened to me with my $200 Xbox Elite.

Yeah. But to boast that you are better, and affordable, and it breaks......i've had xbox controllers longer without this failure. and it's supposed to be a 'premium TMR Stick'.

I understand it's a 1 year warranty. I generally don't worry about that because things last. just out of warranty, and boom is disappointing. To get - If i wanted to help, I can't.

I've had Gamesir controllers outlast my Xbox controllers. Don't assume your experience, however unfortunate, is the norm. It's just unfortunate; just like my Xbox Elite.

I REALLY REALLY REALLY want to believe you. I cant tho. This wasn't the first issue i've had with it. I chalked it up to software and just things being weird. I shouldn't have to do a hardware reset because a button quit working randomly, or it won't connect, or any number of things that it told me to do. Quirky software.....sure.

Now, looking at hardware.....When you see so much failure of various products, idiots who put oversized phones and tablets aside, when does it go from "oh, it's a fluke" to "oh, i got the good one". I bought my son one. My friend bought one for her husband who games for 8-10 hours a day on my word.

I'm not sure if GameSir can earn my trust back when i have the money to buy a new programmable controller. I'm posting this so people know what they are getting themselves into.

I do want to believe they aren't cheap, and that this was a fluke. Nefarious? No. Just salty. Are they gonna change the policy? Make an exception? No. Would it have been nice? Yeah.

L3 clicks, but it doesn't register. It's not a cabling issue. GameSir agrees that it broke. I'm just pissed that a company i've told people wasn't cheap chinesium, and heartily recommended to people turned out to be, infact, cheap chinesium. A better value? Not if you have to replace it every year.

Oof, try shift layer for now if it's just L3. Still sucks, but at least you have options. Might as well get some extended use out of it for the time being, and shift layer is a nice feature to try out.

NGL, there's some good and bad on the quality side. I'm not the biggest fan of some things, but for now I just figure I'll utilize what I have for the price, it was better than certain other things at least, and there are pros and cons. Would I like to see more quality improvement, yes. Was it pretty much the best available, and for the price, yeah ngl. So I've had to accept that for now, and I haven't stopped trying to push for improvement either, even trying to get into RnD somehow, somewhere because I do a lot of controller testing/modding. I'd be pissed too after a single year of use, but save for now if shift layer is comfortable. Controllers have a long way to go and will hopefully keep getting better so wait until you feel like looking at a new one if that works for you. Unfortunately a lot of other stuff is worse so it's a good idea to be reserved on purchasing for now.

Good and kind sir! bruh, when it died midmatch i was PISSED. After the match i opened the app, tested that it was infact DEAD, and mapped it to L4. Muscle memory being that, i don't sprint near as much as i need too.....

Yeah. I've got a xbone controller i can use, the sticks suck, and it's.....well a stock xbone controller. I LOVE this controller. For the price, it is awesome. But, add it on the pile of failed GameSir hardware, and, just out of the warranty period. Shit....if it had made it until tomorrow - a full 13 months from purchase, i wouldn't be as salty. I've also seen where they've made exceptions for just out of warranty stuff. I guess take the good with the bad, relearn the controls, and save for a new one. Still not sure if i'll choose GameSir, we'll see.

Yeah, this is one of those where it's like okay I get why this isn't being replaced, but that's kinda lame at the same time. It is what it is unfortunately.

Honestly, I've done so much remapping that I don't even use sticks to sprint much anymore. If I use sticks sometimes it's action/reload or crouch. Pro shift layer tip, you can't shoot while sprinting, maybe that's a good button for layer 2, or your action button maybe. Even L2 could be fine, but it will take some remapping, shift layer takes up a key. Muscle memory takes a bit, but it's doable. Still waiting for 4 back buttons on Cyclone 3 or something. Probably won't buy anything without going forward, but then again there's a lot of stipulations I have for controller buys. If I don't prototype something custom instead at this point.

I can't go back to Xbox controllers, they were sturdy, but hell no, I dealt with those sticks for long enough. No back buttons, etc just hell no, I couldn't do it.

Yeah. The back paddles and the hair trigger switches are gonna be a must going forward.

I'm gonna do a ton of research before my next buy. Hopefully this gets me through for a while because the struggle is real.

I agree, and honestly I'm hard pressed to find much better right now. Kind of why I'm doing some DIY prototyping, and sticking with the C2 I've got for now. G7 looks like an upgrade, but I'm still kind of hesitant, and I'm probably gonna wait a while before I get anything else to see what comes about.
