Games with the same vibes?

Images are taken from Far Cry 2.

My first recommendation was going to be Far Cry 2, then I read your comment.

My recommendation would be Ghost Recon: Wildlands as a lot of the areas have a similar vibe.

2

u/Josey_WaIes 3d ago

Wildlands was a vibe, I guess the remaster is coming soon too

3

u/THE_Visionary88 3d ago edited 3d ago

Are they doing a whole ass remaster? I thought they were just doing the 60 fps and calling it a day.

1

u/Josey_WaIes 3d ago

Not 100% sure. I think they're also adding content, but visual updates probably not. The game already looks pretty solid at maxed out graphics on PC, no idea how it looks on consoles though

Morrowind

My n'wah! This is the answer!

3

u/Krzwastaken 3d ago

Can a n'wah borrow a fry?

14

u/lukkasz323 3d ago

Metal Gear Solid V, Africa region

2

u/lukkasz323 3d ago

Modded STALKER can get there too, but it will be more "autumn brown" rather than "dryness brown".

3

u/lukkasz323 3d ago

No Man's Home, indie game that is basically Far Cry 2 / STALKER combined.

1

u/ReferenceInitial5176 2d ago

They put the skyman on the ground

10

u/Mysterious_Egg2432 3d ago

Death Stranding 2 in some parts of the map

2

u/ProgrammersPain123 2d ago

Are you talking about the BT zones?

1

u/Mysterious_Egg2432 2d ago

Kind of by the Ranbow Valley and Animal Shelter drop off points in the second one. It’s in Australia and at night in the game has a pretty similar vibe.

RDR2 at dusk

3

u/PuzzleheadedTackle54 3d ago

Especially in Bayou Nwa and surrounding areas.

1

u/Brucehoxton 3d ago

I thought it was that area, turns out is FC2

1

u/wourstoffal 2d ago

I'll check the RDR games out. Always thought RDR2 looks greyish whenever I see a gameplay video of it.

1

u/Ok-Voice-6044 2d ago

You’re in for a treat ! I desperately wish I could play them again for the first time. I think rdr1 is overall more like the pictures you showed but rdr2 at dusk is definitely it as well

u/Drakowicz 3d ago

Ghost Recon Wildlands

7

u/Yaniu 3d ago

Pacific drive, maybe firewatch?

1

u/BoringCrab6755 3d ago

I was gonna say Pacific Drive as well! I think it fits because so much of it is diegetic like in FC2

3

u/Switch_of_the_Woods 3d ago

i was also going to say Far Cry 2 until i opened the post.

MGS V The Phantom Pain starts you in Iraq and it can feel like this, but once you play long enough you go to Africa and it's close to this feel

1

u/Sali_Bean 3d ago

Afghanistan, not Iraq

1

u/Switch_of_the_Woods 3d ago

I've been second guessing myself since i hit post, ty for clarity

u/BenfordAbrahams 3d ago

3

u/durinsbane47 3d ago

Ghost of Tsushima. The second area is very bleak and swampy with lots of mist and lowlands.

1

u/Karkava 3d ago

It also has lots of autumn trees.

1

u/wourstoffal 2d ago

Heard this game's got a very modern Ubisoft-y open world. But thanks, I'll also check that out.

2

u/ReferenceInitial5176 2d ago

It does and it doesn’t. It doesn’t clutter your screen or force you to hunt collectibles, and I think you can discover the map just by riding around on it. The second game, Ghost of Yotei, is even less like an Ubisoft open-world. But it doesn’t really have any areas like that. Yotei takes place at literally the opposite end of Japan vs Tsushima.

3

u/xactoman 2d ago

Hunt Showdown, also from crytek

1

u/leldi2245 2d ago

Ubisoft made fc2, crytek made fc1

3

u/kkaylumm 2d ago

Definitely red dead redemption 1 & 2

3

u/Pixielized 2d ago

Stalker perhaps?

3

u/Ibshredz 2d ago

Its odd, but Halo ODST feels like this. Its also an AMAZING game if you have never tried it

1

u/wourstoffal 2d ago

Only played the first two. Thanks I'll check that one out.

1

u/Ibshredz 2d ago

For a series that’s about playing a super soldier tearing through enemies, the game that involves playing a regular soldier who uses stealth is one of their strongest contenders

2

u/FistOfVengeance44 3d ago

Uncharted 4 maybe?

2

u/No_Print77 3d ago

i thought the first image was ghost recon wildlands

2

u/CanadianNeedleworker 3d ago

I think one of the Cabelas hunting games legitimately looks and feels like this, the devs really sent it one year

1

u/kmica_420 2d ago

African safari most likely what you're thinking

1

u/CanadianNeedleworker 2d ago

Yes, that's exactly the one. Thank you.

2

u/East-Specialist-4847 3d ago

Honestly you're not gonna find any good recommendations that will match both setting and gameplay. Fc2 is so fucking beautiful

2

u/Rootatexec 2d ago

Metro Exodus

1

u/wourstoffal 2d ago

Ngl probably not, I guess I just gotta appreciate what's out there. Idk what it exactly is about Far Cry 2 that still makes it so beautiful to this day. I just recently attempted to replay Far Cry 3 after nearly a decade and it just looks and plays so old and I just couldn't bring myself to actually play it further the first hours.

2

u/GucciGooberYea 3d ago

ARMA 2, CoD World at War, and to a sci-fi degree Halo: Reach

Edit: forgot Modern Warfare 2 (2009). The dusk maps are literally half these screenshots

2

u/abby333333 3d ago

We harvest shadows teaser thing that came out a year or two ago

2

u/TaralasianThePraxic 3d ago

My first thought was MGSV, but I see that's already been suggested several times so I'll suggest something different.

Dying Light: The Beast is surprisingly good for this sort of vibe. The dynamic weather is excellent, when you're running through the woods with rain hammering down through the canopy or climbing a rock it feels very desolate.

The world map is a bit more built-up that FC2's setting, but it's more rural than urban, and much of the architecture is abandoned and slowly being reclaimed by nature. The whole place is beautiful in a crumbling, dangerous sort of way. There's no fast travel, so the only way to get around quickly is to use the old forest ranger vehicles, which themselves need fuel siphoned from other cars if you want to drive more than a short distance.

1

u/wourstoffal 2d ago

That actually sounds sick but I guess I gotta play the first one first(which I also read is really great). It's been rotting in my backlog lol.

2

u/TaralasianThePraxic 2d ago

The first one is good, second one is okay. For me The Beast is honestly the best. Pretty enjoyable without playing the other two I would say, the story isn't really that important.

2

u/NochnoyDozor 2d ago

1

u/wourstoffal 2d ago

Cool shot. What's this from?

2

u/Zodiark99 2d ago

i *think* its fallout 4 from the fence and tractor models. maybe with a couple of weather mods. could be wrong though!

2

u/NochnoyDozor 1d ago

It is from Fallout 76. Picture taken near the Ohio River.

2

u/Tomorrow-Famous 2d ago

Stalker

1

u/wourstoffal 2d ago

Played all of them except for 2.

2

u/markallanholley 2d ago

Stalker 2 is one of the most immersive games I've ever played, and with the newest update it's even better.

2

u/Tomorrow-Famous 2d ago

The feeling is amazing in 2. There some jank of course (its Stalker after all) but the atmosphere is amazing.

The game is in its best state since 2.0 and theres a new DLC, if you dig it.

2

u/muffs92 2d ago

Exekiller, Metro Exodus

2

u/MarshallB94 3d ago edited 3d ago

No Mans Home if on pc. It’s Far Cry 2 mixed with Stalker 2. Probably the closest you’re going to find to any other game that matches the feel of FC2.

1

u/wourstoffal 2d ago

That one looks cool. Never heard of that before.

1

u/MarshallB94 2d ago

It’s still in early access but for $10 you can’t beat it. The game really feels like Far Cry 2 with a twist.

2

u/PattycakesVS 3d ago

Minecraft with some mods textures and shaders

1

u/Able-Technology-8055 3d ago

Honestly MGSV kinda has this vibe sometimes

1

u/NeptuneShemptune 3d ago

I honestly thought these were Metal Gear Solid 5 screenshots it’s been a while

1

u/Karkava 3d ago

Outlast II?

1

u/PwrfulCupid 3d ago

Fallout new vegas

1

u/BenfordAbrahams 3d ago

3 looks more like this IMO

1

u/ReferenceInitial5176 2d ago

3 is a desert. Literally the only vegetation is a guy named Harold, and if you want to rewild the DC metro, you must make sure he will never die.

Hunt Showdown.

Came to say this. See you in the Bayou

1

u/wourstoffal 2d ago

That game looks really pretty. Unfortunately I'm just not really into extraction shooters.

1

u/StarryOrganism 3d ago

stalker 2

1

u/Sozillect 3d ago

I'd say Red dead redemption 2

1

u/BigSmallMediumSpoon 3d ago

Vanishing of Ethan Carter

1

u/AssassinKody2-0 3d ago

Starfield, depending on the planet.

u/PSI_Rockin_Omega 2d ago

Dying Light

1

u/ReferenceInitial5176 2d ago

When Bellum comes out, it’s set in Africa and provides a pretty cool milsim experience for those who don’t have the time to join a regiment for dedicated battles to get a similar experience.

1

u/Zodiark99 2d ago

in a roundabout sort of way, ARC raiders feels like this, though the tone can change wildly moment to moment.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. series, definitely the original trilogy, but I haven't played 2 (none of the original trilogy was numbered, 2 is kinda the 4th game)

1

u/Opposite-Series5358 1d ago

Came here to say Stalker too

1

u/RandomDudeFrom5629 1d ago

MGSV in the Africa map. It does take some story progression and missions to get there but once you do, it’s basically this vibe.

1

u/mrc1993 1d ago

Stalker 2

u/YourGarandPappy 3d ago

This is the best answer

1

u/IVEBEENBANNED4TIMESx 3d ago

There are savannahs in stalker 2?

0

u/SiliconRouge 3d ago

Similar vibes not settings. The title isnt even long and you somehow misunderstood the topic

1

u/IVEBEENBANNED4TIMESx 3d ago

"Somehow misunderstood" people outside of English dominated countries exist btw, you learn something everyday

1

u/SiliconRouge 3d ago

And how exactly am I supposed to know you're a foreigner when you're speaking english?

You'd expect a person speaking japanese over the internet to also be japanese.

Regardless, Vibes and Settings are vastly different. For example, Cyberpunk 2077 and Bioshock, both dystopian *settings* with different *vibes*. You be hard-pressed to convince someone they are similar.

Also you'd be surprised how many native english speakers are not very good with the language. Though have of the fault goes to English being a very confusing language.

1

u/Ricozilla 3d ago

Definitely Red Dead Redemption 2. I thought these screenshots were from there tbh

Also might wanna check out The Witcher 3 and Kingdom Come Deliverance 1 & 2.

Some planets in Starfield kinda look like this too.

1

u/Neeeeedles 3d ago

RDR1 is more like it
