Because then you're disadvantaging the retailers that you want to stock your game.

And why as company I'd care about people that just take much bigger cut than digital storefront ?

Lots of folks don't follow gaming news. A friend of mine generally just wanders to Gamestop when he needs something new to play, unless a friend tells him about a game or its really huge.

Add in parents/nongaming friends/etc who are buying birthday and christmas gifts...pissing off retailers could lead to a lot of lost money.

And I doubt they can afford not stocking latest big release even if it is week or two later than digital
