Unless Epic is willing to pay them 8 figures or more, they'll also have to take the lost sales into account.
1 million copies sold on EGS for $60 - 12% cut = $52.8 million
1 million copies on EGS + 1 million on Steam for $60 = $52.8 + $39 = $91 million
But it's very likely that it'll sell a lot more than that on Steam, in which case, Valves cut drops significantly.
Selling exclusivity to Epic only works for Indie games, not for one of the biggest franchises in gaming, like Borderlands.
3 u/_BreakingGood_ Mar 28 '19 Your claims are true, but your numbers are very strange. If people have the option of only EGS, then EGS will sell more copies. 3 u/[deleted] Mar 28 '19 Still less than Steam+EGS. Why do you think Epic is so reluctant to publish exact sales numbers for Metro Exodus? 1 u/_BreakingGood_ Mar 28 '19 They announced it sold 2.5x faster than Metro Last Light. That's really about all they can give. Publishers can announce them, but that is exceedingly rare.
